Heart tattoo designs to fall in love with

Updated on August 8, 2013

How to find a heart tattoo design you love

Hearts are one of the most popular and enduring tattoo designs for both men and women. There's something about a heart tattoo that appeals even to people who aren't big tattoo fans themselves.

Maybe it's because a heart is such a powerful symbol. Not only of love, but of spirit, dedication, commitment, faith. The great thing about a heart as a graphic symbol is its simplicity. It's this that gives designers and artists infinite scope to embellish and adorn, to make a heart tattoo design truly original.

Yet it's this same thing that can give anyone searching for the perfect heart tattoo such a headache. How do you choose? How many do you look at before you make your decision?

If you've already done some searching online or in your local tattoo parlor catalogs, you'll know there's no end of heart designs to choose from. Most designs you'll instantly dismiss. They're not "you". Too complicated, too simple, too vivid, too subtle, too traditional, too modern. What one person loves, another wouldn't give you two cents for.

Choosing a tattoo is always a highly personal thing. But never more so than when you're choosing a heart.

Fortunately, there's a fast and easy way to find that elusive heart tattoo design. Just check in at With a total of over 3500 carefully selected, high quality designs to choose from, discerning customers are rarely disappointed.

Of course, hearts aren't all you'll find there. But right now, if it's a heart you're after, there's no better place to look than TattooDesignsThatRock.

Choosing a heart tattoo design

Deciding to have a heart tattoo is one thing. Choosing it is something else. Where do you begin? Well, one way is to think of it in the same way you'd choose a meal or a new pair of boots or a vacation. First thing you need to do is narrow the field. Even if you're not sure what kind of design you want, my guess is you're pretty clear about what you don't want. So start with that.

It might help to browse through some online collections, like the one you'll find here. You'll get a good feel for just how wide-ranging a tattoo artist's interpretation of "heart design" can be.

Before long, you'll have a good idea of what you do and don't like, and this can be a real time-saver for the next stage. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with the search process. Man, you could look through a ton of heart tattoo designs and still not find the "perfect" tattoo for you. That might not be because you haven't seen the right design. It's more likely that you've fried your brain by staring at heart after heart after heart. It happens. Add in the sense of frustration you feel at not finding what you're looking for and what started out as a fun thing to do is fast turning into something that's bugging you like crazy.

So save yourself some hassle. Narrow the field. Focus. Decide on the kind of heart you want. Decide on the style and number of colors. Copy and paste a few images that are close to the kind of thing you're after. Now all you gotta do is find yourself a good source to browse through and nail "the one".

I gave you my first choice already - TattooDesignsThatRock. But let me give you couple other options:

@justholidays: Thanks Dom. I appreciate the feedback. My aim with these lenses is to give people a fresh take on choosing a tattoo. The research I did kept bringing up the same old tired phrases and rehashed content. I've written this lens and the others in the series from scratch and tried to give it a new slant.
