Hair Color Maintenance:Clairol Product Review

Updated on June 19, 2015

Keep your color looking fresh and natural

Review of Clairol Nice 'n Easy Root Touch-Up: Medium Brown

I had been going to the salon every six weeks for years to have my graying roots colored. I was too afraid to attempt this feat at home fearing somehow it would end in disaster and make a total wreck of my hair. But the day came when I could no longer afford the salon visits. I was between jobs and money was tight. The gray roots were getting too hard to ignore,so I broke down and purchased a box of Clairol Nice 'n Easy Root Touch-Up in Medium Brown. I followed the directions and within an hour I was admiring the beautiful results.

This is my personal review to share with you to hopefully help alleviate any fears you may have with coloring your own hair. I am not getting paid by Clairol and I wish I could give comparative reviews for other products, but I have never tried other hair color products.

Always Do The Allergy Test

Just because you may have used a product before without allergic reactions, doesn't mean you won't have an allergy to it in the future.

What's in the box...

The contents in the box are enough for one application for the coloring of grays you have at the base/root area of your hair. It is not intended for all over coverage. You will need to get a kit specific for that.

My hair is shoulder length and fairly thick and I usually end up not needing all of the mixed product.

The box contains:

one 15ml tube Permanent Color Creme

one 15ml bottle Color Activation Lotion

one applicator brush

one color mixing tray

instruction sheet

one pair plastic colorist’s gloves

The instructions are easy to understand and follow. Always do an allergy test as recommended in the instructions.Clairol recommends leaving the color on for 10-15 minutes. I leave it on the full 15 minutes because my gray is somewhat stubborn.

How To Use

I am very pleased with the results this product delivers. The color blends in with the rest of my hair and it looks amazingly natural. It seems to restore shine to my hair, looks healthier and gives my hair a boost of volume at the roots. The color, for me, lasts up to 5 weeks because by then the grays are back. It depends on how fast your hair grows. The price is what I also like about this product. You can usually find a box for less than $10. Compare this to the $60 and up I was paying at the salon every six weeks. I recommend this product to friends and family all the time.

Where Can I Get It?

This product is available at most stores that carry hair care products. I find that many stores run out of certain colors faster than others, including the Medium Brown that I use. When I do find my shade, I usually buy two boxes at a time so I won't be left scrambling to find it when I need it the most.

Please feel free to give me your thoughts.I look forward to hearing from you! Any questions about my review, please ask and I will respond.
