Updated on March 18, 2014

My Baby Overall Clothing

Infant overall clothing can be use for more than a year. Do not throw them because removing the footie area will let your baby use them for a longer period of time.

We always wants the best for our babies. Even though babies grow really fast and they have to change their clothes in a span of three months or less, we always buy new clothes for them.

But there are some mommies who are contented on few numbers of clothes for their babies because they knew that it cannot be use for a longer period of time. Especially for overall clothing which is usually use for 3 months or less.

One of the most common clothing for babies is the Overall clothing. It is necessary to have this for babies not only because its cute but most especially when you are living on a cold places. Its also necessary when the baby starts to crawl on the floor. It can be their protection from insect bites. Overall Clothing are available from newborn babies up to 2 years old with 3 months interval on sizes. It fully covers the whole body including the toes.

The problem with the overall clothing is that it can not be use for a long period of time, sometimes it can only be wear up to 3 months. What happen is we just keep it or gave it to somebody. That is why sometimes mommies, like me and my mom doesn't buy too many clothing for the baby.

Why I like Overall Clothes for my Baby - Reasons

I have few reasons why I personally like overall clothing for my baby.

  1. It can be a protection from insect bites and cold weather because it covers the whole body.
  2. During sleeping time, overall clothing will allow the baby to cover their body aside from blankets.
  3. I like it so much because whatever style i use to carry my baby, the babies skin was not exposed.
  4. Most of all, Baby overall clothing can be use for more than a year. I just have to repair it and remove the footie area.

Another 1 year of usage for overall clothing

How my baby can still wear her infant overall clothing for more than a year

My baby can still wear her overall from 3 months up to now even though she is one year and ten months old. What I did is, I cut the footie of her overall and I sew it by my hand. It is very easy to do and will not require too much time. Because of this, I do not need to buy new clothes. Here's how to do it.

Follow this very easy steps

1. Cut the foot area of the overall. Do not cut very short.

2. Fold 1 centimeter width at the cut area, this will be the allowance for sewing.

3. Sew the fold area, this can be by hand or sewing machine - any style of threading can be good. Do not forget to lock the thread

Save money by reusing overall baby clothing - Sewing her small overall clothes are fun

I started to cut the overall clothes when she was 7-months because I notice that when she stretch her legs, the automatic bottoms opened. Its fun to sew her overall clothes because I know that even she grow bigger and bigger everyday, she can still wear her old clothes.

Save money by reusing overall baby clothing. Just remove the footie and the clothing can be use for more than a year. Great saving tips for second time mommy who has old clothes from previous babies.

@chezchazz: Thank you very much. Actually I thought of that when I have my second child. I became resourceful after my first child. I've started to realized what I should, and should not buy.
