How to Make Ribbon Necklaces

Updated on September 11, 2014

Ribbon Necklaces

Ribbon necklaces are easy to make and can be made in minutes. If you like beading and making jewelry, you've probably made jewelry that takes a lot more skill than ribbon necklaces.

But if you don't do beading or just want to make a quick necklace, keep reading to learn how to make ribbon necklaces.

This beaded ribbon necklace took me about 15 minutes to make and that included finding the beads and ribbon, which in my craft and jewelry supplies is quite a short time!

Use Ribbon Needle or Large Eye Needle

To make ribbon necklaces, use either a ribbon needle

(a needle with a large eye) and ribbon or ribbon that

has a needle attached to make ribbon necklaces.

Needles for Ribbon

If you can find ribbon with a needle attached, that's great, but I've found that it's not always sold everywhere.

In that case, another great option is to use a needle with a large eye to thread your ribbon on to. When you have the the big-eye needle threaded with ribbon, you can use beads with a hole that sort of large to make ribbon necklaces.

Fine Ribbon Works Well for Ribbon Necklaces

Using a ribbon that is fine, not a really large and bulky ribbon, works best for ribbon necklaces.

Threading beads on the ribbon is simple with a needle, shown above. Another option is to dangle a charm from the center of a ribbon for an even easier alternative to making a ribbon necklace.

Pendants to Hang on Ribbon Necklaces - Add Pendants for a New Look Each Time You Wear a Ribbon Necklace

The simplest way to make a ribbon necklace is to start with a simple ribbon and tie it behind your neck. Or get a ribbon necklace with a clasp attached.

Then add interchangeable pendants that slip over the clasp. Slides made for this person give you lots of options for a new look each day!

I have seen some women wear such pretty ribbon necklaces that they either made or bought. They looks so easy to make and create them in any color we want. Thanks for sharing these ideas. :)

Nope not yet. I thought I knew a lot about crafting, but I hadn't even seen a ribbon needle before. Uh oh.....I guess this will be my next crafting tool to get. :)

What a great idea and actually looks like something I might be able to do - I am NOT crafty (well, not in THAT way).

I've worn one, but never tried to make one. It looks really easy here--maybe a good activity to do with my 8 yr. old granddaughter. Great job on this lens!
