How to Apply Bronzer-Quick and Easy Tips for Beginners

Updated on April 16, 2012

Why would you want to learn how to apply bronzer? For those who are looking for that sun-kissed glow to their skin that makes them look like they have gone away to the tropics, this is the product for you. It can be applied in quick and easy tips for those who have never tried before. Using the right tools and techniques can give you the look you are after all day long.

By applying bronzer, you can save yourself from harmful rays from the sun and still get that great deep natural tan look you are after. The following are some helpful tips for how to apply bronzer effectively.

1. Choose the right shade of bronzer. You will need to know that your natural skin tone is and then choose a bronzer that is a few shades darker. For blondes, you need to look for pink tinted bronzers as the effective shade. Brunettes like-wise would want to choose an orange tinted bronzer.

2. Next you need to choose a large rounded ended brush to apply your bronzer to your skin.

3. You will need to apply a thin coat of translucent powder to you skin first. This will help to absorb any excess oil on your face and make the bronzer give you a more natural glow. Dip your brush into the bronzing powder being sure that the powder is evenly distributed throughout the bristles. Tap off any excess powder.

4. Apply the brush directly to the areas of the face where you would normally get tanned the most when sitting in the sun. This is usually the forehead, nose and top of the cheeks areas. Using a sweeping motion, begin brushing from the top of the forehead and make your way down to the nose with dabbing the top of the cheeks last. You will want to start out lightly and then slowly increase your color depth while smoothing out the shade to make it all appear even. You will then need to check the tone of the bronzer with natural lighting or out in the day light to make sure it has not been overdone.

Quick Tips About Bronzers

One of the first things to learn about how to apply bronzer is to understand the product and how it can affect you. Bronzers can be washed off after taking a shower without affecting your skin color in any way.

If you are looking for a permanent tan color, exposing yourself to the sun's rays is required. Always avoid using dark shades if your natural skin is not dark as it will not appear natural and you will look unattractive.

Bronzers only make your skin look tanned. It you are looking for something that will make your skin shine or shimmer, you will need to find a powder that contains a shimmering component within them. Also, when you do apply bronzers, be sure to avoid using very much foundation as this will cause your complexion to become unnatural looking or even be given an orange tinge.

While it may not be wise to apply a bronzer on a regular occasion, knowing how to apply bronzer when needed can save you time and headache (and maybe a little embarrassment too). The winter season is often when many miss the natural tanned look of the sun and seek to apply a bronzed based to their pale complexion. By using the steps outlined above, you can pull off the look and appear as if you just took a quick trip to the tropics.
