Jack Rogers: The Best Summer Sandals
For over half a century, Jack Rogers has been making the Navajo, a sandal characterized by its wide, whipstitched leather and round piece at the toes. It was inspired by Jackie Kennedy in the 1960's. Not only did ladies seek to emulate her good taste then, but they continue to do so today. These sandals are a summer essential in the wardrobe of every lady who prefers classics. The good quality of the shoes makes them worth every penny, makes them comfortable, and makes them last. Don't you love the smell of good leather? I do. When I received my first pair of Navajo sandals for my birthday, I was very excited. I had wanted a pair for a while. When I opened that box, that wonderful smell of leather greeted me, and continues to linger in the shoebox even now.(Photo mine)

These are the platinum, like mine. I like the color because it goes with everything.
If you want something not so metallic, these are a wonderful neutral color.
Let's talk about comfort.
These pass my test.
I am an absolute comfort snob. Some of my favorite shoe brands include Dansko and Aerosoles, if that tells you anything. While these sandals are not cushioned and don't exactly feel cloud-like, they are fantastic for a number of reasons. First, the smooth leather soles can be wiped clean. Many people prefer sandals that have suede soles so their feet don't slip, but not me. I think the suede soles get nasty too fast, and it's unsightly. I don't have to constantly look down to make sure my foot is placed in the brown imprint and not showing any ugly wear or dirt. The inside of the straps is this same smooth, soft leather.Second, the broad straps keep them in place securely. So many thongs will easily fly off your foot or trip you up. But these stay in place as securely as if they were an enclosed shoe. The leather stretches with wear, of course, but not to the point where it becomes loose. It only conforms to your foot to the point of comfort. Third, as I mentioned, there is no cushioning, but they simulate being barefoot, which is just as good sometimes. Fourth, the sole is stiff at first, but still pliable enough to walk with ease and poise.
Beautiful in simplicity.
Oh, the versatility! - Where can you wear these shoes?
- Lunch with the girls
- Work (most of the time)
- To the pool
- When you're feeling glamorous
- When you're having a bad day and need to feel glamorous
- Anywhere else you like! They are perfect for dressy, casual, or almost anything in between.
I love this blue. My next pair might have to be this color combination!
Flamingo! Perfect, since these sandals are made in south Florida.
