love tattoos ; why people get them
why do people get tattoos in the first place? or more specificly why do they get love tattoos, or ones that specify about a certain person, place, event, ect? a good amount of people can be found with the word "love" inked on their skin, or a heart placed somewhere on their body. the meaning of 'love' varies from person to person, as does the tattoo.
some love tattoos are colorful and bright, while others are dark and disturbing but regardless they all paint some sort of picture -- wheather you can figure out the meaning of it is up to you, and wheather the person with the tattoo wants the meaning to be subtle or not, is up to them.
some people get tattoos for a form of art. some get tattoos to be 'cool'. some get it on a drunk night after having one too many beers. the fact is, love is in the tattoo none the less. most people have to absoutely love the tattoo they're getting, and imply that factor into said ink. alot of couples, best friends, pairings, ect are opting to get matching tattoos as well. alot of husband/wife, husband/husband, wife/wife couples can be found sporting a tattoo on their ring finger in place of an actual ring. now, some people go for wearing the actual ring itself to cover the tattoo up (for work reasons) but the fact is that people are committed to each other and want to show everyone that committment with a permenant reminder on their body of the one they love. others, such as best friends get matching tattoos in varies areas of their bodies to prove they'll be "BFFs", which is actually a very clever idea.
some people have felt the need to take it one step further and actually have their hearts tattooed: http://www.truelovetattoos.org/. now if this is serious or not, i'm honestly not sure but still -- if they really are tattooing their actual beating hearts with their significant others name, or otherwise then they of all people have committment. the above is obviously very dangerous and doesn't seem that legit, but if people are actually going through with it then more power to them.
bringing it back to my main point -- weather you have an actual heart tattooed on you, the word 'love', or anything else in regards to it, theres still love in itself inked into your skin. here are some quotes of various people that have gotten tattoos in regards to love, & their opinions of tattoos in general :
"The way I see it is, writing my life on my body.
When I was born I wouldn't have chose to have small boobs, small eyes, big hips, and frizzy hair so to me it's my way of making my body how I want it."
"Why do people wear their hair the way they do?
Why do you choose the clothes that you do?
How about pets? Some love them and some don't.
How about anything else you do in your life? Why?
It isn't a club. People with tattoos get them because they want them.
It is art. You either appreciate it or not."
"Tattoos are a very popular way of expressing yourself these days. All kinds of people have them. It's a way to show off your thoughts. They are also great conversation starters and do give you more attention at times."
