Why the Four Leaf Clover is considered so Lucky
The Good Luck Symbol of the Irish
The Irish take credit for bringing us the Four Leaf Clover. The Irish believe a Three Leaf Clover represents the Holy Trinity; one leaf for The Father, one leaf for The Son and one for The Holy Spirit. If a clover sports a fourth leaf, this represents God's grace. It is said that St. Patrick used a three leaf clover to illustrate the Trinity in his ministry to introduce Christianity to the Irish. Hence the celebration of St. Patrick's Day.
It is also believed that Eve carried a Four Leaf Clover from the Garden of Eden.
Others believe a clover with four leaves symbolize: Faith, Hope, Love and Luck in that specific order.
The early Celts used four leaf clover charms to ward off evil spirits.

The Legend of the Wishbone
The bone that lies at the top of a chicken or turkeys breastbone is sometimes called the wishbone. Perhaps there is a more fancy name for it, but for here we'll stick with wishbone. Legend is after a wishbone has dried out and become brittle, two people each grasp one end of the bone. Whoever winds up with the longer end is granted the wish they made right before breaking the bone.
I recall as a kid at Thanksgiving always pulling my end of the wishbone with a self absorbed, determined desire to get whatever dream toy was topping my list that year. Sometimes it paid off! Today I still insist on pulling the wishbone, although my wishes are a lot less materialistic these days. I have to say they often come true when I come up with the winning end of the wishbone!

A Little Charmed History on Luck
Are you one of those people who say they aren't superstitious, but can't walk by a penny that's sporting a shiny heads up without picking up that penny? Don't feel silly if you are, most every one will pay heed to at least a couple of superstitions from time to time. After all, we've been paying attention to charms and luck for centuries.
Have you ever or known anyone who has carried a rabbits foot and wondered, well, WHY? Why on earth would someone want to carry around a dead animals foot? Well, in Africa some cultures believe that to carry the foot or other body part of an animal enables the carrier to travel as fast as that animal to escape danger if needed.
In the Middle Ages, in Eastern Europe it was believed that the "undead" or vampires were guilty of bringing about plagues and causing massive death. In an attempt to ward off these vampires a cross or crucifix was often held up to deflect the evil.
Charms, are often called amulets and talismans. The word amulet is derived from the Latin word amuletum, which means "an object that protects a person from trouble." Talisman comes from an Arabic translation that means "any object intended to bring good luck and/or protection for its owner."
