LUSH Skincare Routine

Updated on November 1, 2011

Beautiful Smooth Skin, Healthy Glow

I've enjoyed LUSH soaps and bath products for years now, but just recently decided to give their skincare a try. I am so happy I did. My skin has never looked smoother, younger, fresher and all around healthier. I don't even need foundation, my skin is even enough to skip it. I can't recommend their products enough.

This page will take you step by step through my simple LUSH skincare routine that I use in the winter months when my skin is dryer and cheeks can get red. Really there is not a lot to it. Here's to beautiful and healthy skin! You won't be disappointed.

What type of skin do you have?

I'd call mine combination

My skin is a little fickle. It can be dry and flaky, yet still acne prone. My cheeks have always been very red, although I've not been officially diagnosed with rosacea, I wonder if that's what it is. I'm entering my 30's now so proper skincare is more important than ever. Fine lines are starting to make their mark around my eyes.

I've always tried to take good care of my skin, utilizing Mary Kay's skincare routine since I was about 11. It's done an adequate job, but I was still prone to red cheeks and blemishes. I've tried other product lines, but always seem to find myself back at Mary Kay, until now. The LUSH skincare routine, I have going now is superior to anything I've tried before.

Step by Step LUSH skincare - What works for me and my combination skin

Here are the 3 steps, 2 most days, that have revitalized my skin. My face is smoother, brighter, more even-toned and has been less acne and blemish prone since starting with this LUSH skincare routine.

As with the majority of LUSH products, this is a solid cleanser. I like to wet my face then break off about a pea size amount from the soft cleanser roll. I add more water to my hand and make a little bit of a paste then gently scrub in small circles all over my face. It exfoliates and cleanses in the same step. It also smells amazing. If you enjoy Aveda products, it has a similar quality. My skin always feels incredibly fresh and clean.

Buy Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser

For heavenly soft and balanced skin, take a smidge of Angels on Bareskin, mix with a little water and massage in. The kaolin clay base deep cleanses while ground almonds gently exfoliate the dead skin away. Rose and lavender are added to soothe and help balance out combination skin. It's our best selling preservative-free and packaging-free daily cleanser for all skin types, so if you don't know which cleanser to choose and it's heavenly skin you're after, start with Angels.

Once to twice a week I apply this magnificent mask. If I've had makeup on, I'll go ahead and do step one first with the cleanser, but otherwise I just smooth this on liberally all over my face and let it dry. I'll stay in it as long as I can stand, sometimes a good hour. To take it off, I wet my finger tips and start to rehydrate the mask into a scrub. The aduki beans make for a nice exfoliant. I rinse with a good amount of water and pat the skin dry. My skin feels refreshed, tingly and firm.

    Buy Mask of Magnaminty Cleanser

Revive your skin with our cooling mint mask. Its clay base makes for a deep cleanse, getting all the grime out from beneath the surface (it's great for blackheads). Peppermint oil cools the skin and leaves it with a tingly fresh feeling. When you're feeling spotty or grimy, spread this mask all over your face and shoulders, inhale the refreshing scent, leave on for 5-10 minutes then rub in the clay and ground aduki beans for some cleansing exfoliation. A quick rinse and you'll feel fresh and energized.

Last step is to always follow up with a touch of this wonderful moisturizer. I was a little disappointed at the size of the pot for the cost of the cream (about $20), but you really use just a touch. The product goes on a little greasy but is very quickly absorbed, leaving just smooth well hydrated skin behind.

    Buy Celestial Moisturizer

Celestial is a heavenly moisturizer meant for skin that reacts to everything; it's made of the most calming and soothing ingredients to help alleviate your sensitive, dry skin. Blissful vanilla water and almond milk delicately moisturize and soften the skin and give it a beautiful soft scent. Fresh dove orchid extract is included in the mixture as it is traditionally used in Chinese herbalism to reduce inflammation. You don't have to use a boring, fragrance-free cream on your sensitive skin when you can happily soak up some Celestial.

The mask dries not too tight. I can last in it for over an hour without feeling itchy or too tight. When washing the mask off, all those chunks turn into a wonderful gentle exfoliant.

@anonymous: Lush has a product called coalface that is great for dissolving oil. I also like to carry blotting papers in my bag for midday touch ups.
