Drawing Your Own Tattoo

How Good Is Your Artwork?

I have always been extremely envious of anyone who has the ability to draw. Drawing and sketching can be taught, and with a good deal of practice many people achieve a reasonably high standard. But I believe the best artists are truly gifted.

With millions of tattoo designs to choose from, getting ideas to make your own tattoo is not really a problem, getting a design down on paper that a tattooist can use as a stencil will take a bit more effort.

It is worth spending plenty of time sketching different designs and patterns, and experimenting with different colors and shading. When you have got your drawing to the best standard you can, take it to your tattooist who will always make small improvements and give you suggestions on what will look best.

To create your own tattoo, your standard as an artist must be at the very least, extremely good.

Make Your Own Tattoo - Custom Designs

The best person to design you a custom tattoo is a good tattoo artist. Apart from the actual tattooing, which is a highly skilled craft in itself, most professional tattooists are also skilled artists.

Don't expect your tattoo artist to design you something out of thin air, go and speak to your tattooist and bring any sketches you have done and tattoo designs that you have found. Any good tattoo artist will take your ideas and designs and sketch up something to your requirements. Often the design outcome will far exceed your expectations as tattooists know what works and what doesn't.

When you finally decide on your chosen tattoo, size and placement of your design is the next big decision, and probably just as important as the design itself.

Most tattooists will advise you to go larger with your design rather than smaller as intricate lines and patterns tend to fade or blur slightly over time.

This doesn't mean you have to go for the full back tattoo, but as a rule a little larger is always good advise.

Online tattoo design software is very easy to use, combine your choices, print them off or save them and come back later. Using this method to make your own tattoo is very simple and the reason that online tattoo design software is becoming more and more popular.

So if you are looking to create your very own unique tattoo, why not play around with tattoo design software and Make Your Own Tattoo.

Once you have settled on a particular design, using tattoo software, you can change the original design to almost anything you want.

Change the outline, the size, add colour and different aspects to get your perfect design.

There really is no limit to what you can achieve.

Make Your Own Temporary Tattoo - Fine Tune Your Design

Creating your own temporary tattoo is a great way of getting a design on your skin and finding out if you like it before your get the real thing.

What looks good as a line drawing on a piece of paper doesn't always look as good on the skin.

The contours and different shapes on your body can distort what you imagine the real thing will look like.

Playing around with a temporary tattoo kit is an excellent way of fine tuning your design before jumping in and getting permanently inked.

A well presented lens. Good content and the reader is no overwhelmed all at once because you have thoughtfully laid it out and interspersed excellent photos in-between. As a person who does not particularly like tattoos I still enjoyed it especially due to the lovely artwork.

Great ideas. Anything that's permanent, should be a design that's personal and speaks to the wearer for the rest of their life.

You should always have a big part of what you etch into your body. The best tattoos mean something or are important to that person in some way.

@newbizmau: next time you see someone with a really awesome tat ask them who they go to, do that a few times and see if you come up with the same person multiple times. That is how I found my artist and I love him!

@newbizmau: Having a tattoo doesn't make you a bad boy... I have a couple of them, and I'm a nice guy. (yea, right) ;)

Um, once you start, you get addicted. You constantly think about new designs, and places where you could put them... :)

I can't bring myself to tattoo my body, but I can't help noticing how good they look on some people, but I guess it's the bad ones that really worry me. I don't want to be one of those people.

I don't have any tattoos and won't be getting any, but I do think they're really neat, and I see some amazing art in the tattoo world. I enjoyed your lens.
