Instuctions for Neutrogena Microdermabrasion System: A $20 Skin Care Investment

Updated on October 21, 2015

Initial Product Review

I started using this system for a week now and the results have been excellent. This product claims to smooth skin, lighten acne scars, firm skin, minimize pores, and help reduce the sight of wrinkles. Although I don't have wrinkles yet (only a matter of time), all other claims appear to be true so far. My skin is incredibly smooth, my scars are lighter, and my pores are definitely smaller. The other additional features I've noticed is that my face is less oily throughout the day and the blackheads on my nose are gone!

Product Review: One Month Later

One month later and my skin is even firmer and smoother. My laugh lines and worry lines on my forehead have diminished in appearance. I actually find myself almost addicted to this product!

I have tried to follow instructions and only use 2-3 times a week. I would prefer to use it daily since my skin feels so clean after each use, but I assume it's just not healthy to do so.

I am about to look into purchasing inexpensive replacement foam pads. I'll keep you updated!

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a cosmetic technique using a handheld device to exfoliate the outermost layer of dead skins cells. It is a non-invasive procedure that essentially abrades away the top layers of the skin; thereby, leaving you with smooth, firm, and clean skin. It is painless and refreshing.

Instructions for Use

Recommended by Dr. Oz

Dr. Oz recommended the Neutrogena microdermabrasion system on his television show several weeks ago. He recommended using this product 2-3 times a week to clean your skin and help eliminate acne. This product was mentioned as having the same end results as other more expensive at-home microderabrasion systems.

This is a very inexpensive microdermabrasion that you can buy yourself. I purchased mine from for only $25.99 (including shipping). This price included the handheld device, 2 AA batteries, and 12 replacement pads. You really can't beat that price!

Product Claims

  • Minimize Pores
  • Minimize Acne Scars
  • Minimize Appearance of Wrinkles
  • Firm Skin
  • Softer Skin
  • Smoother, Luminous Skin
  • Boosts Surface Cell Turnover
  • Younger-looking Skin

Remove Blackheads

I have used Apricot Scrub by St. Ives along with Biore strips for my nose to scrub my face and remove blackheads. Although the combination seemed to work well, this microdermabrasion system has removed all blackheads in a week more effectively. The Biore strip often misses some areas along the curvatures of my nose and cheek. The Neutrogena handheld device doesn't miss a spot! It easily glides around my nose and around crevices. No more blackheads!!

Helps Eliminate Whiteheads and Cystic Acne

With longterm use, this product will help prevent future outbreaks. You will notice a difference in the quality of your skin even after one use. However, if you regularly use this system 2-3 times a week, I can guarantee that it will help prevent future zits and pimples from appearing.

Improved Compexion

With thorough skin cleansing and smoothing by exfoliation, this system will help prevent future acne outbreaks. Whether you suffer from whiteheads, blackheads, or cystic acne. This microdermabrasion system will help control and eliminate acne.

Diminish Acne Scars

As this microdermabrasion abrades the top layer of your skin, all scars will fade faster with time. You will notice a difference in the scar within 2-3 treatments.

Make-up Glides On

My make-up appears less blotchy and caked-on now that my skin is so baby soft! Foundation glides on smoothly and doesn't bunch up in my laugh lines or forehead worry lines (since they have diminished significantly).

Create A Spa In Your Home

No need to run to the spa or salon to get a facial for eliminating unsightly blackheads or acne scars. You can simply use this product at home -- at your convenience. Facials can be pretty pricey and not to mention painful when the asthetician digs into your face to remove those painful blackheads.

To create a spa feel at home, I like to lay down and close my eyes while my friend/spouse applies the microderabrasion treatment for me. It can be quite relaxing!

I have recently stopped using both Neutrogena and Dermalogica, as I felt like I was spending too much time futzing with those products and they didn't even work that well! My skin actually looks even better now, which has led me to using Citrus Clears Sensitive Wash. My routine is SO simple now - cleanse and moisturize with Citrus Clear (Wash & Moisturizer) each morning, apply my mineral powder makeup, and then cleanse and moisturize with at night! I love how easily my makeup comes off and I am even happier with my skin now than ever before!

OMG, need to buy this at Amazon! I actually had my eyes set on Clarisonic, which also came out with a kit especially for acne-prone skin. But now, I think I have to give this one a try first. I've used Neutrogena since college and I really think that the brand has good products. Thanks for the review.

Snenickiminaj: Blackheads are completely different in nature than whiteheads. However, this microderabrasion does help with your overall complexion and will help eliminate both.

I'm going to make some additons to this hub to discuss whiteheads. Thanks!
