Minnetonka Moccasins

Updated on January 9, 2014

Minnetonka Moccasins have become my choice of casual footwear. They multitask as slippers, driving shoes and casual wear. But most of all, they are so comfortable. I bought the Minnetonka El Paso II style for myself for Christmas this year. I've had moccasins before and loved them, but the ones I've had in the past weren't well constructed and the lacing unraveled early on. Minnetonkas are well made and last a very long time. I know this because my daughter and grandaughters have worn theirs for years. They are a lot harder on their shoes than I am, and their moccasins still look new! The laces even stay tied, which was a problem with my previous moccasins.

I chose the taupe color of suede with the El Paso II design because they look so good with denim jeans. If you click through to the product, you will see various views of the moc from different angles. Check out the full view of the top stitching to see the denim blue in the design. I love the look of these. They even look good with casual skirts. I'm planning on purchasing more styles, including the ankle boot, and a fur lined moccasin for cold mornings. I'd even like the same El Paso design in a black moc. There are many other styles and designs to choose from. Something for everyone.

One thing to be aware of with Minnetonkas, they run a little large, so I chose a half size smaller than my normal shoe size and it's perfect. These shoes felt like gloves on my feet right out of the box, and I've worn them every day since. Minnetonkas are moderately priced, but are actually a huge bargain when you consider how well they are made, how long they last, and that they look new after months or even years of wear. If you check the customer reviews, you will see overwhelmingly positive comments. The only negatives I could find were the observations that they run a little large. Knowing this ahead of time eliminates the inconvenience of ordering the wrong size.

I will be wearing Minnetonkas for the rest of my life. Moccasins will always be a sustainable style of footwear, as witnessed by being popular with the three generations of women in my own family! I'm done with anything that isn't completely comfortable, and these are definitely that.

What's your favorite footwear to wear around the house?

When I was younger, I wore moccasins and they were pretty easy to find and buy. I haven't seen a pair of moccasins for sale anywhere in years. I wish I had a pair for around the house. Great article.

I haven't had a pair of moccasins in many years. These look pretty and sound perfect! I like to be able to slip shoes on and off quickly, so they fit that bill, too.
