Short Wavy Haircuts for 2012

As my pixie crop grows out, I know that I am in store for styling it into a sexy, tousled wavy hairstyle, like many of these that are featured on this lens. This lens is dedicated to providing you ideas for getting a new haircut, styling the one that you already have, and inspiration on how to look beautiful every single day!.

This season, short wavy hairstyles are going to be the rave with the addition of French inspired fashion. If you are interested in styling/cutting your hair into a short wavy cut, then go for it. I dare you!!! Be brave.

Please leave me a comment, suggestion, or a general question. Questions are answered weekly.

Classic Wavy Short Hairstyle - Reese Witherspoon is Elegant

Classic, large waves are always in style and work wonderfully as a night-do or an all day wonder hairstyle. To get the classic wave look:

Towel-dry hair vigorously and run conditioning styling cream through your hair and let it air-dry as you style your bangs.

Blow-dry your bangs with a round brush, making sure they're completely dry.

Run a tiny dab of shine serum over bangs to add a little polish to the look. If the rest of your hair isn't close to almost dry, attach a diffuser and quickly dry the ends.

Short Summer-Kissed Wavy Hair - Carey Mulligan

Carey Mulligan is true hair chameleon. She has sported long stick-straight hair, a pixie crop, and this recent short, wavy hairstyle, that is the result of growing out her pixie crop. To get this sun-kissed look, you don't have to hang out in the rays (you can!), ask your stylist to layer your hair through the back and the sides, which will add glorious amounts of movement throughout your hair.

Moreover, the eye-skimming bangs are pushed to the side and allowed to have their natural wave shine through.

Looking to get the sun-kissed color? Try lemon juice. Or if you have the dollars, ask your stylist to do you a la Carey Mulligan. Print this picture out and take it with you to your appointment.

P.s. Clicking the photo will take you to the Modern Pixie Haircut lens, which will inspire you to go SHORT!

Jagged Edgy Short Wavy Hairstyle - Courtney Davis

The color in this picture is not my favorite, but her wavy short style is wonderful. The hairstyle is cut jagged throughout. Literally, you can see that the hairstylist cut punk rock layers on top, on the sides, and in the back. What does this doe? It creates a natural movement in the waves.

This textured do is best suited for those with fine to medium hair looking for a style to compliment a long face shape.

So You Have Straight Hair? - These Curlers Work Wonders

Now, I have curly hair, so this isn't a problem for me, but for those of you with stick straight hair dying for luscious waves, try these rollers. How do I know that they work??? Friends told me.

Short Wavy Pixie

I am a supporter of the wavy pixie. I have one and every girl that I have seen with this haircut looks fabulous. It provides and throw and go style, that tells the world that you make the hair, the hair doesn't make you. It is sweet, punky, and alternative. Plus, it adds gobs of texture without even trying.

If you have an oval face, you can go super short.

If you have a round face, you can go short, but ask your stylist to give you long layered front fringe.

How to achieve the Alyssa Milano Look:

You don't need to wash your hair every day. In fact, I suggest that you wash it every other evening. After washing and towel drying your hair, rub in some shine serum.

In the morning, use a wax or frizz-reducing gel-spray or mousse. Tousle it around. Pin back anything you don't want in your face and head out the door.

A Modern Twist on the Short Wavy Bob - Brooklyn Decker

This short fun and flirty 'do is layered all through the back and sides for shape and style. This allows the ends to sit out naturally adding movement to the back and sides for a great finish. A little wax or moulding gum is needed for hold and shine.

Short Wavy Bob Hairstyle

Modern SHort Wavy Pixie Cut - Ginnifer Goodwin

The back and sides are tapered into the head blending into the top shaggy layers which are jagged cut to allow movement and softness for a brilliant finish to a simple look. This style will need regular trims to maintain shape and style.

But you gotta love the style! This is what mine looks like =)

Sexy Waves - How To Style This

This is Really Awesome and you should get your hair cut just like this. It screams elegance and bombshell all at once!

Spritz hair with styling spray and blow-dry with a round brush for volume and so ends are smooth and polished.

Take medium-sized Velcro rollers and wrap hair down around them in one-inch sections. Leave rollers in your hair for at least 20 minutes. Spray with a fine-mist, strong-hold hairspray before removing the rollers.

With a natural boar bristle paddle brush, brush out the front/top section of your hair so you get that swooshy, sexy hair-falling-over-one-eye effect. Leave the rest of the curls more solidly in tact. Just shake them out a little bit so hair looks soft.

Emma Watson Circa Wavy Red Hair

I couldn't go without putting an Emma Watson picture on one of my Fashion and Beauty lenses...sorry. I just love her.

Trend for Winter 2012 Alert - Kristen Stewarts Updo

This wavy, short, updo will pair well with all face shapes and hair types. It is flirty, soft, and uber feminine. You don't have to dye your hair to get the warmth, but it may not hurt to add warm highlights.

Start by braiding the front sections of your hair and then securing it into a loose bun.

Simple as that!

Questions will be addressed each Friday and Answers will be posted on Saturday in a FAQ style!

Thanks for the ideas. Now that my hair is growing out, I think I'll do the shabby bob.
