10 Natural Ingredients that Will Make Your Facial Skin Healthier

Have you tried artificial products to soften your skin? Have you ever scrutinized the skin products that are highly professed for making your skin smooth? Most of them come with the word “natural” written somewhere on it. As used in skin care products this is useless, it is a way of attracting buyers. Some products do work well but they need prolonged and constant use to keep you buying more. Others have dangerous chemicals which may predispose your skin to slow deterioration.

There are many things within nature which can make your skin glow and maintain its beauty. Add these natural ingredients for soft skin in your diet. You will be able to cut down on your budget and still acquire soft healthy looking skin without having to expose your delicate face to harsh chemicals that may have adverse side effects. Some of these can help your skin either through internal action by ingesting them or by direct application on your skin. They are easily available at the grocery store or market.

1. Garlic

Garlic can give you flawlessly soft skin if used correctly. It contains allicin which can kill bacteria, fungi, viruses and treats acne and fungal infections on the skin. You may use it as a cleanser to treat acne, sunburns, and excessive oil. The sulfur in garlic will increase blood flow to give your skin a glow. You can make a garlic mask. Mix crushed garlic with honey and yogurt, and then apply on your face. Honey and yogurt will help you to reduce the stinging sensation that garlic can cause. You could also use garlic powder, in place of fresh garlic. Cut one clove and apply it directly on the affected area, like on the areas with acne. After the acne has healed keep using it to reduce the marks. Garlic works very fast so you will notice changes within a week. When you use garlic at first, take precaution not to damage your skin. Do not let it stay for more than 20 minutes on your skin since it is very harsh and it can cause allergic reactions.

2. Lemons

Lemons are easily available, and they do not spoil easily. You can buy a number of them to last you a week. You just need to cut a few lemons a week. Juice from lemons can help enhance your skin’s appearance by removing excess fats from your skin. Cut the fruit in half, squeeze out the juice onto your hand or small container, then apply the juice directly on your face and leave it for a few minutes. Rinse your face with warm water. You can drink the rest of the juice or store it in a refrigerator for a later time. Lemon juice is ideal for removing dark spots and acne and giving you soft skin and a fresh feeling.

Raw carrots can also improve the health of your skin if ingested regularly. You can make carrot juice or grated carrot or simply take one carrot and chew it.

4. Water

The human body contains a lot of water (approximately 75%) and most of it is concentrated on the skin. Therefore the best remedy for problematic skin is to keep it hydrated by drinking a lot of water. Some drinks such as tea, coke, processed sugary drinks and alcohol are enemies of healthy and smooth skins. Take as much water as possible. The minimum set by most experts is at least 8 glasses of the standard 250ml glass per day. Apart from drinking water to maintain a health skin, ensure that you wash your face with water at least twice a day. Artificial cleansers do not remove dirt as well as water, and also, they are likely to cause allergic reactions.

5. Salt

Our bodies contain minerals including sodium chloride or salt. Salt will make your skin softer by killing bacteria. Sea salt contains minerals such as magnesium, sodium, calcium and potassium, which your skin can greatly benefit from. Sea salt is the best salt to use for skin therapy. You can use salt on the skin by making a simple skin scrub by mixing with coconut oil or olive oil or honey then rinse off with warm water; or by making a warm salt solution and use it to wash your face/body daily. Take caution not to use too much salt, at most use two teaspoons. Always rinse your skin with fresh water to prevent excessive dryness.

The egg yolk will provide nutrients, soothe and moisturize your skin. Use the egg white and yolk separately. Mix the egg white of one egg with a little lemon juice then apply on your face and let for 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. You may also use egg whites alone. Let in harden on your face on for around 30 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Egg yolk is also applied in a similar way, but then rinse off with cold water so that the skin pores can close leaving you feeling fresh.

7. Honey

Honey has numerous benefits to the skin including softening it, cleansing it and treating it. Honey has antibacterial and antioxidant properties, therefore, it can treat your skin and prevent it from drying up. Honey is a mild natural product that will clean your face without harming it or removing essential skin oils. You may use honey directly on your face. Just rub about half a teaspoon of raw honey in your palm and apply it on your sweet face. Leave it for at least 10 minutes before rinsing off with warm water. You may also use honey together with other ingredients such as avocado or turmeric to make your skin soft.

8. Avocado

Avocado contains vitamin A and Vitamin E which heal damaged skin. Dry skin, aging skin and acned skin can be replenished by using avocado. Make a face mask by mixing half an avocado with a few spoons of honey and milk. The lactic acid in the milk will adjust your skin’s ph. Remember to wash your face well before applying your mask using your fingers. Leave the mask on for at least an hour then rinse it off. Avocado mask is mild so it is unlikely to cause a problem on your skin unless you are specifically allergic to avocado.

9. Turmeric

Turmeric works well as a face mask that will lighten your skin and reduce black spots. Make a turmeric face mask by mixing corn flour with olive oil and turmeric. Another way to make turmeric face mask is mixing turmeric powder with honey and applying it on your face.

10. Olive Oil

Olive is very beneficial to your skin because of its antioxidant properties. It contains polyphenols, Vitamin E and phytosterols which help to slow down aging and to protect the skin from ultraviolet rays. It is especially effective to use organic olive oil. Simply apply one teaspoon of the oil on your face then dry it off gently with a smooth cloth or towel. Use olive oil at night for best results as a moisturizer, and also since it will make your face to literally shine.

An Awesome Tip for Homemade Facial Scrub or Mask

Corn Flour

As much as corn flour may be processed, it is edible, thus it can have no damage to your skin. Mix it with olive oil and gently apply on your face. Let it rest for an hour or so then wash it off. You may use it with other ingredients such as turmeric, as an exfoliating facial scrub.

Some skin care companies incorporate the use of these natural ingredients in their composition. However, the entire process of manufacturing does not allow them to maintain their natural power. If you still want to use artificial skin care products, look for those that contain some of the above mentioned ingredients.

Remember, whatever you do to your face, do it to your neck so that you can have even skin tone. Always wash off face masks with a lot of water. Most of these natural skin remedies are cheap to acquire and were used effectively long before cosmetic companies became a booming business sector. Notice that honey, olive oil and water are commonly used with other ingredients that keep the skin healthy so the basic idea is that you keep your face hydrated, moisturized and clean.
