5 refined yet slightly sexy outfits for women 35 to 40 years old

Updated on August 4, 2012

Most people think that women 35 to 40 years old should wear business oriented, refined, classy and timeless clothing. While there is nothing wrong with that statement, women 35 to 40 years old still want to have fun with fashion. This hub gives five refined yet slightly sexy outfits that are suitable for many different occasions. Hope you will enjoy my fashion sense!

Causal sexy look for weekend and off hours – This look is causal, sexy and suitable for women 35 to 40 years old. Most people think that older women should not wear very short shorts. However, if you have great legs, you should show them off. It is important to remember that older women need to mix in some refined elements if you want to show off your figure. The look below shows off your legs through black opaque tights. People will see that you have very shapely legs and think of you as beautiful, refined and sexy. This look is especially fitting for petite ladies because cropped tops make legs look longer than they actually are.

Business causal for work – There are a few ways to dress for work. Most people are somewhat familiar with professional business causal. In this hub, I am mostly doing weekend and off hour looks. However, I do have this fun little outfit for semi professional work environment. The orange chiffon top is not see through and will add color to your work outfit. The rest is pretty standard, pencil skirt, black opaque tights and black pumps make the whole look very suitable for most office environment.

A causal dress for the weekends – There are lots of dresses that look great on older women. Here is an example below. The blue dress is sexy and classy. The gladiator studded sandals add a little bit of edge to the outfit. This look is perfect for weekend and other causal events. For petite women, you should replace the gladiator sandals with a pair of studded high heel sandals.

Trendy everyday look – For women 35 to 40 years old, you can still choose to show off your style with trendy clothing. The look below is for someone that is outgoing and enjoys fashion. Although the whole outfit is very colorful, it is still suitable for older women. Each piece of clothing is appropriate yet slightly sexy and highly feminine.

Classy gorgeous look for office parties and other important events – For the last look, I have decided on a classy gorgeous look for office parties. Since you are slightly older, the dress needs to look beautiful yet age appropriate. The gray dress shown below is perfect for older women because it is not cut too deep at the neckline. However, this dress is slightly on the longer side which means it is appropriate for taller ladies. Petite women tend to get swallowed with the length. As a rule of thumb, dresses and skirts that are at the knee are most feminine for women. Knee length items will bring out your figure as well.

I love your ideas! I am a jeans and t-shirt junkie but I truly love the idea of fashion...I just haven't the slightest clue how to put anything together. Thanks for sharing the ideas. -K
