Ray Ban Aviator Sizes

Updated on June 9, 2016

Which of the Ray Ban Aviator Sizes is Right for You?

What Ray Ban Aviator Sizes are available? And just what does 58mm mean, anyway?

Don't worry. This page will explain the sizing structure of the Ray Ban Aviator Sunglasses, and how to choose the right size to best compliment your face.

Now that you know what size you need, why not pick up a pair? To help you out, we will even list some great options--in just that perfect size for you!

Ray Ban Size Chart

The Ray Ban Aviator comes in four different sizes. Each size is expressed by a number, such as 58mm. This number represents the width of the lens itself, so the bigger the number, the bigger the lens. To see a relevant sizing, grab some on-hand glasses and measure their lens width in millimeters. Once you measure a few pairs, you'll begin to see just what those numbers mean in reference to lens size.

To see what size you might need, measure the width of your own eye...but be sure to allow extra millimeters because with sunglasses you want to block out the sun around the eye too, not just over it.

That being said, here is a very basic Size Chart for you to refer to:

52mm: These are the equivalent of extra small. Great for small eyes, or perhaps just smaller faces...

55mm: The 55mm size is your basic small lens.

58mm: This is the Ray Ban Medium lens size. If you have an average sized face, this is probably the size for you.

62mm: At this time, this is the largest lens available from Ray Ban for the Aviator model. Perfect for large faces!

"After 'The Matrix,' I cannot wear sunglasses. As soon as I put them on, people recognize me."

~Carrie-Anne Moss

If you are shopping for a smaller person, these may be a great fit. Remember these are the extra small version of the Ray Ban Aviator. Of all the sizes, unfortunately this one has the least in the way of options.

However, as with most Ray Bans on Amazon, once you click thru to Amazon, you will be able to customize your sunglasses. This means you can change the lens color, etc, before buying.

For example, clicking on the item to the right will give you up to four options in color of lenses and / or frames. Simply choose the color that's right for you!

Well, my favorite thing about Ray Bans used to be my ex in them ... he liked them so much that he used their name as his nickname. Course, his name is Ray! I've actually worn a pair in my lifetime. They are cool after all.
