#1 - Tarun Tahiliani

The first designer we ought to mention is Tarun Tahiliani - one of the most famous designers in the Indian fashion scene.

Tarun Tahiliani started in own design studio in 1991, after pursuing studies in Business Management at Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania, and opened Ensemble - his first fashion boutique - in India. He also has an associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (New York). He participates in fashion shows held in prestigious cities like London, New York, Milan and Tokyo.

His designs correspond to Indian contemporary high fashion while taking advantage of the best of Indian traditional craftsmanship and rich fabrics. Tarun Tahiliani is all about fine detailing, luxury and thorough tailoring. Thats probably what makes him one of the best in Indian bridal wear.

Every year, he takes part in the Bridal Couture Exposition held in India, an event he started in 2009. His Bridal Collection 2012 for men and women is adorned with exquisite embellishments like zardozi work, crystals and antique gold. Some of the colours he prefers to use are mainly red or pink garments for women and mainly gold and white for men.

#2 - Anita Dongre

Indian fashion designer Anita Dongre based in Mumbai has developed her professional career for over 20 years. She studied fashion design at S.N.D.T Fashion Institute.

In 2000 Anita Dongre launched "AND", her first high street western label. Nowadays "AND" is one of the most famous western labels in India.

In 2005 she introduced a new trend launching her brand "ANITA DONGRE", targeted for the luxury market. ANITA DONGRE has garments for men and woman. In the case of women it is divided in several sub brands: Timeless, Interprete, Grassroot and for men there is also a wide variety of clothes.

She has been one of the first designers introducing organic clothing in the Indian fashion Industry and thus friendly with the environment.

Anita introduced another brand called "GLOBAL DESI" which is an ethnic high street brand.

The last year Anita Dongre launched her Indian wedding Collection, she also launched her Bridal store in Mumbai where we can appreciate a wide variety of wedding clothes for bridal and groom.

Currently she has shops of "ANITA DONGRE" brand located in Delhi, Kolkatta and Mumbai.

#3 - Neeta Lulla

Neeta Lulla is an Indian fashion designer specialised in bridal wear. She is one of the most famous costume designers in India.

She has won the National Film Awards For Best Costume Design four times already. She designed wedding clothes for a lot of famous Bollywood celebrities including Sri Devi and Esha Deol. She designed the Aishwarya Rai breath-taking dress that she wore for her wedding.

Neeta Lulla's creations are composed of many traditional elements such as floral embroidery, sequence work, lace and net to add volume to the dresses.

#4 - Manish Malhotra

Manish Malhotra was born in 1965 in London and he is the uncle of the Bollywood actor Punit Malhotra. He started his career in 1995 when he created costumes for the movie Rangeela and he received the Filmfare Awards for the Best costumes in 1996.

Manish's label is called Manish Malhotra, and was launched after the success of his creations. Nowadays he is one of India's most famous and globally recognised Indian fashion designers.

He creates beautiful designs that include traditional Indian bridal wear. He makes different types of Indian dresses, wedding sarees, wedding lehengas. Known as one of the most coveted designers for brides and bridegrooms all over the world.

#5 - Rohit Bal

Another famous Indian Designer who is specialised in Indian bridal wear is Rohit Bal. He launched his first independent collection in 1990 after four years of cooperation with his brother. As an independent designer he has opened several stores across India.

The development of his business was accompanied by an increasing amount of recognition and honour including prestigious awards like the "Designer of the Year" award in 2006. He is also considered a very important presence at Lakme Fashion Week. In fact, he was picked as the "Grand Finale Designer" for Lakme Fashion Week 2012.

During Lakme Fashion Week 2013, he captured the attention of audiences because of his sophisticated bridal wear. The press, including magazines like Vogue, emphasised his talent of selecting all details to catch the attention of the audience.

He is a true icon of the Indian Fashion industry and often called the bad boy of Indian fashion. His styling for Indian fashion in general and for Indian bridal wear in particular is unique, but nevertheless, his creations are famous beyond Indian boundaries: he has dressed women from all over the world. Some of his clients are super model Naomi Campbell and the Hollywood actress Uma Thurman.
