I don't care about hair too much, but my loved ones do. I had to figure out a way to avoid transplant and look good too. This is the result.

Hair Loss Concealing - Toppik or Caboki - Which One is Better

Hair thinning concealing methods are one of the most inexpensive and effective ways to cover your scalp, reduce the obvious hair loss, and give back you the lost confidence. Thinning hair can be sometimes a temporary problem, and when dealt with properly, goes away, but what you do in the mean time?

If your image is important to you, you need to do something to preserve your good looks. Many solutions for concealing the hair thinning exist, however we will review the cosmetic solution that consists in thickening the hair using fibers.

Cosmetic Hair Thickening Using Fibres

Cosmetic hair thickening solutions are tiny fibres, that stick to your hair and increase its volume and reduce the appearance of baldness.

The hair thickening fibers can be made from different materials ranging from keratin, or synthetic fibres to natural plant fibers.

Some solutions rely on the fibres' bonding properties in contact with hair, some will need a specially formulated spray to make the tiny particles adhere to the hair.

Based on these properties every solution has its advantages, and it is a mater of personal choice which one you choose. Following, I will present the best cosmetic solutions for hair thinning on the market, and the most asked questions about them. Feel free to participate in the comment area if you want to share your experience with others.

Caboki - How Does Caboki Work

Caboki is a powder made of tiny fibers taken from the plant Gossypium Herbaceum. The researchers at Caboki tested many other materials, and found that this was the best for concealing the hair thinning. It works great because it sticks better to your hair, eliminating the need of a hair spray. It is less irritant than anything else, the least itching for the vast majority of people. The fact that they use all natural dyes makes it so much more wearable. Many people who used other products before Caboki, liked it the best.

Downside - it is not waterproof, as the company would like us to believe, but it is certainly the best concealer without a hair spray.

Toppik - How Does Toppik Work?

Toppik hair building fibers are keratin made tiny fibres that bind to the existing hair giving it more volume and thickness, decreasing the appearance of balding. The formula is similar to the nanogen one, because it uses keratin. The makers of Topppik have came up with a great assortment of other products to help the application of the product. They have a special spray for a better control when applying and a hairline optimizer, which controls the application of the fibers at the hairline for a natural look.

For a better durability, they have a separate product, the "Fiberhold Spray" which will help the product stick better to the hair. The product is not waterproof and it comes off relatively easy, but it looks natural and it feels natural.

Nanogen - How Does Nanogen Work?

Nanogen uses the nanofibres a unique formulation of keratin, cut and shaped to maximize the adherence to your hair. The nanogen jar, has a special design to charge electrostatic the fibres. The electrostatic charge is the charge that makes the fibres stick to your hair. The nano-fibres are also a special coating to provide the perfect electrostatic charge.

The great thing about keratin is that it is the same material as your hair, so it looks like your hair, it is natural, it doesn't create irritation, and are very safe.

The downside is that if you want to fix the nanofibers to your hair you have to use the Fibre Locking Spray. It is somehow not openly advertised on their documentation, but you find out by using the product.

Dermmatch - How Does Dermmatch Work?

Dermmatch products are cosmetics using a special coating formula, that is applied on the hair giving it a full thickness. The product comes in two options wet and dry. Most of people who used it, liked better the wet formula, because is easier to control and has better results. The coating looks great and it is water resistant and it won't come off on your pillowcase. The dermmatch approach is to coat the hair and color the scalp for a better appearance.

The downside is that you need a fair amount of hair for best results. In other words it works with mild thinning areas. If you have a more pronounced thinning, you can use dermmatch in combination with any powder, like toppik, caboki, or nanogen. The other downside is that, for long hair, you need to choose wisely your hairdressing since the coloured hair will rub your skin, forehead, ears, etc... leaving marks.

To sum up, for spots that are not very large, this is the best product to put on before hitting the beach. You know how much more noticeable is the problem spot when your hair is wet... Well, you can rely on Dermmatch to make that spot disappear.

Other Cosmetic Hair Thickening Solutions

Hair Cubed Hair Building Fiber - Water Proof

This is a great product, it is waterproof and the application is very easy and precise because of the special design.

Hair Cubed comes in a spray can, that contains both the fibers and the bonding agent. This minimizes the product waste and gives you a great control over the application precision.

People have found that using Hair Cubed together with another concealer, such as Toppik or Caboki, works best minimizing the product use and combining the best in the two products.

The downside of using this spray is that it has a strong smell, and if you are sensitive to strong smell you need to take precautions like open windows, start the fans, etc. Despite the initial smell Hair Cubed does not leave any lingering smell on your hair, and it is harmless for your scalp.

XFusion Keratin Hair Fibers

The XFusion hair cosmetic thickening powder is made of keratin fibers. It is a great product and you will love how your hair looks when using it.

They also sell an applicator for easier and more even application.

This product can be used by both men and women, providing a great volume regardless of the hair length.

For extra stickiness of the fibers, use the X-Fusion Fiberhold Spray.

FDA Status for Caboki, Dermmatch, Toppik and Nanogen

I hear many people asking. is Caboki FDA approved or is Toppik approved by the FDA? Well they don't need an FDA approval, because they are simple cosmetic solution for your hair. They are very safe to use, and can be used at home without any problems. But remember, we are only talking here about the cosmetic solution.

Rogaine for Men Hair Regrowth - Minoxidil Topical Easy-to-Use Foam

Rogaine foam is FDA approved for hair regrowth. The active ingredient is minoxidil, an antihypertensive vasodilator, and it is very effective.

It is true that minoxidil was accidentally discovered as a hair regrowth solution. Nonetheless, clinical tests showed visible improvements in 85% of men, when used twice daily. It is easily to apply and it dries quickly.

Don't waste any time, if you haven't tried this. 85% is a pretty darn good chance. Minoxidil works by improving the blood flow at the hair follicles, which will stimulate and strengthen the hair. It is prescribed for androgenic alopecia. Minoxidil will not work immediately, but rather after 3 to 6 months, so you have to use it regularly until you see progress.

Derma Roller for Hair Stimulation

The roller's tiny needles massage your scalp, dramatically improving blood flow in your scalp, and doing so improves nourishment and oxygenation of the follicles. This is one of the most natural and healthy ways to improve the scalp's tone and blood flow, stimulating the hair retention.

I can remember when Rogaine first came out. It was the only product available for the thinning hair. I actually was an independent contractor and went in to check on stock levels. I am so pleased to see so many other choices for people who suffer from thinning hair and bald spots.

@smine27: It's just a little something to boost his confidence in public. Rogaine is great, but it doesn't work in all cases.

I used Caboki as well and is great. I only have a mild thinning on top, which the easiest to conceal. I am going to try the hemp oil, thanks for the tip.

I've used Caboki and it is very good. I have dark hair and a large - fist-sized bald patch on my crown and thin hair at the front, and it does a very good job covering that up, and looks like I have a full head of hair. I do also use a hairspray to keep it all intact as it is easy to touch some of the thinnest areas and have the stuff come off, leaving obvious scalp marks. I guess it all depends how thin you are on top to see if you will have fantastic or just average results.
