1 Million views + goal online is achievable

Updated on October 14, 2013

My digital thumb is sore from liking so many things LOL

The number game

Some numbers may appear absolutely unreachable when anyone looks upon them at first appearance. To believe the impossible is sometimes what is required for us all to think of after taking the plunge here online. Your mind must never be allowed to think otherwise as to feeling as though you will not achieve such a high achieved number such as 1 million views.

Many countless individuals have done what was once deemed the impossible or impassible. You have to think to yourself though how in the world did they manage to defy the odds.

Well, that may not be a simple question to answer, because truly there isn't one well defined method to the digital madness here. In all actuality anyone can manage to figure it all out, but lets say there was a handbook made for such a thing. Would you purchase it, and no matter its pricey ridiculous cost?

Reaching for NEO is freeing you

It may be possible to do it or was possible at one time

Many of the hubpages authors here have actually discovered such a secret, and mostly by chance, some by expertise, and others by shear luck of the draw, which also includes timing. On the web this dynamic fact pertains to tidal waves of viral statistics moment after moment, and when any given network is raining with web traffic.

If you were here on this awesome writers network once upon a time, and most definitely when all the web traffic was poring in by the 10 of millions per month, then you would of been lucky enough to receive tons of views to your hubpages accounts and articles published.

At such a time, this writers network wasn't truly dealing with issues such as Google Penguin updates, and them silly Panda bear ones. Nope this was a place for writers to flourish both on the scales of earning a splendid passive income and well, as a truly good experience of receiving tons of feedback from a happy crowd of fellow writers and supporters of their writing efforts, because the viral trends were going in the favor of a single domain, which was

Then Hubpages reacted to the massive Google storm of search engine updates by creating subdomains for each hubbers account, profile location, and hub articles.

This is when the scary stuff had happened, and thousand of writers were hit hard (Over 200,000 of us), traffic dwindled and so many fled for cover, some even jumped ship entirely quitting the potential battle they could have faught. Then there were the dedicated super hubbers who refused to quit, which was about 100,000 of them, die hard types. (Yup I was one of them, and still here plugging away :)

A cool explanation why videos go viral, one awesome TED TALK

Many people are looking for instant winfall today and paradise

SEO or not its a rough course

After the storm came of search engine updates the games began, and everything was turned upside down on the entire spectrum of the online world. That was the sign that surviving online wasn't ever going to be the same as it once were, and there's no one to blame when it comes to the dependency on single site resources such as Google, Yahoo, Bing, or the likes.

Mainly Google was the culprit behind such updates, and this hurt every online corporation, and business worldwide including this awesome writers community.

Today which is about a close to 2 years later after the first Panda Update attack back in Febuary 2011, things have fell into differing perspectives and we are due for yet another monsoon of an update, which will be known as Panda update ummm..... 26 or 27 maybe, "who cares anyhow, we all hate them digital Panda's".

Will we survive the onslaught, is something of a relative thing, we do know that Hubpages has worked long and hard to prepare their authors and networking locations for the massive blow to come. We all hope that it will help us to take the golden torch of digital fame, and hopefully it shall shoot us all back into the online stratosphere up high about the artificial cloud systems here.

This funny video below can go viral folks, its possible!

How to go viral? is the #1 question

Well, to truly go viral today, you need to be on a wave of epic proportions, one digital content master of sorts, or someone who has lucked out and hit the virtual jackpot! (The social sharing frenzy! where folks cannot stop sharing your content no matter where it lands online or digitally)

Yes I must say that, going viral today online is one of those things that isn't of the human or animal kind of virus condition, nope its not that kind of party. No, this status of sorts is when a person hits millions of web traffic views and in a very short period of time, lets say in the matter of days, or maybe even a month or so.

Going mega viral like PSY has done on the Youtube platform (He put up an impressive 2.7 billion views on his YT channel thus far, boy is that popular!) is almost impossible, or at least that's what most users there believe, because it appears to be that way, especially if you been plugging away there non-stop for years, and with absolutely no results that closely resemble such a ridiculously high statistical phenomena.

If you pretend to be a dog chasing a cat into a swimming pool, and look as cute as this dude while doing it, you may go viral!

Youtube viral potential poll

Have you ever tried the Youtube platform before, maybe to try going viral?

See results

So do you think its possible?

If you don't believe that this going viral thing is possible for you to do, well think again. The author of this article is in the position of doing just that with his Youtube channel (Just come close to surpassing a quarter of a million views - A total of 223,962 views).

Heck anyone of can do it folks if I can get close to doing it, "I'm no expert at anything I tell ya!" LOL and I wrote that little milestone factoid thingy there to help inspire others to give it a try, go for it folks, but go hard at it as well. (Try to master your video editing ability over time if anything.)

All we need to do is believe, get the camcorders out, video cameras set to blaze trails of film footage, and maybe think to purchase some cool video editing tools as well as skills to go with it.

Yup but this thing does take skills for those who aren't lucky enough, funny enough or talented enough to attract the world to their amazingly short video clips. Some of these Youtube viral crazed videos are only about 3-5 minutes long or shorter, and that is just insane when you think about how much online success it yields for the account holder and video maker.

As for going viral in other ways such as writing and publishing a Ebook, article, blog post, song, website or social networking posts. Well that all depends on the tides of whats trending at the time online, social sharing factors and if such a published creative works was so appealing to a world of viewers that the search engines had no choice, but to bless it with the highest ranking possible.

Just let loose is my motto, and I'm learning the ropes to this viral thing each and every day. You need hot keywords too, & following trends helps a great deal

Letting go and believing in you!

This is part of the battle that many people have today and why it appears so difficult to hit the all time viral status while posting and posting content appears to never yield such results.

Sharing factors must be in place and via various social networking communities for such a thing to even have a chance. Your content must be made of that stuff that somehow makes eyes wanna pop out, because its what is known as eye candy! (Load up your content with visually appealing themes, make sure you get permission from the owners if its not yours 100% & provide proper attribution, which is a link back to their web location & annotation if needed.)

You can do it folks! Hell, I can do it too:

Yup! the stuff that appeals to many viewers worldwide, and packed to the rim with a wide variety of elements of joy, laughter, surprise, inspiration, humor, anticipation, shock & awe etc... (Tough to do, but not impossible to learn to master, you might need to take tons of photos for sure, invest in higher quality cameras, audio/video tools etc...)

Once a person managed to capture these sorts of moments into a single video, article, Ebook, maybe even in one lucky amazingly creative poem, who knows how far such a thing shall be thrust onto the online viral waves (Try using SoundCloud to master your open poetry and spoken word voice).

We do know though, by watching various successful Youtube videos that each one that actually took off, was shared millions of time socially, and this is where folks are trying their hardest to break through at.

Note & Shocking Epic Conclusion:

However, if you don't believe in yourself, in what you are doing, or lack the love it takes to make your content have the greatest high quality potential it can have. Then you are losing sight of this true opportunity we all do have today, which is to achieve such an online success, because the only thing that is truly stopping us, is us. (Our own inhibitions, lack of knowledge, understanding lack of creativity, skill, content placement, and tooling.)

Mike, great information, very inspiring....but I think this volume of hits happens more by luck than design; however, if one is determined enough, all things are possible.

      Good luck to you.

Thanks for the insightful comment, and for sharing with me. Oh and yeah that doggy is cute ain't he, I'm not that good when it comes to naming them though so your best guess is better then mine :)

Using a video camera is something I've never even tried. I'm sure I could do it, but it would take lots of learning. Writing online and being a success at this moment is darn near impossible.

Some say eBooks are the wave of the future. I don't know. Youtube is making it at the top of Google searches, so I guess I'll need to learn that next.

I like the photo of the dog. It looks like a Brittany and we have one.

Thanks for an interesting read and I totally agree with it.

@billybuc, thanks Bill I'm almost there on Youtube, and chasing the top runners for sure. They're in the billions now PSY and a bunch of other cool dudes and dudettes, so I have a great deal of ground to cover to catch up, which is motivating all in itself :) LOL "Maybe in the next century I will at this pace my channels going, but who knows I may strike a digital chord there or even here on Hubpages."

@bravewarrior, you bet I'll help you with a cool suggestion. I purchased a Toshiba Camileo x400, its a HD 23x zoom camcorder. Me and my wife had bought it at best buy on sale for about $150.00 last year around this time.

I had zero knowledge of video making besides using my smart phone which was substandard, but I'm glad I used it, because it helped me to break the shy part and to hit the record button every day :)

I highly recommend that camcorder, because it has made all of the videos I submit onto Youtube, and they come out with topnotch quality as far as I can manage to produce.

Just keep in mind lighting is the key to making it film even better, in low lighted areas you will see less performance when it comes to pixel and video resolution quality, which is the same for most cameras, but this one in particular works best in good lighting "Crisp HD Quality as in my last video uploaded here".

Thanks for commenting, for sharing and I hope this info helps you make a wise purchase, if anything research on HD camcorders, and also look up the reviews of folks online, that's how me and my wife located ours.

@carol7777, My good friend how are ya, yes indeed I believe I heard of such an occurrence as well. I remember on Facebook people would mention their articles going viral frequently, and before we all got hit by Google's Penguin update.

I do hope things return back to the good ole days, because the lord knows that us genuine authentic content publishers mean well, and are seeking to gain the notoriety and monetary reward we all do deserve.

Until then I shall be on the viral ban wagon there on Youtube, because it is the only way I am earning enough to eat some decent meals, and pay some minor small bills, my wife does the rest :)

Thanks for the cool comment and for being so kind to share with me here on my latest.

@Faith Reaper, Hey glad to have you join us here on the Viral marketing hub I just launched. Yup its my job to be a motivator online, I made myself into this online spokesman person :)

I figured we can assume any role we so choose as long as we keep it real, and show that we have the knowledge and can back it up as well. I hope many more folks decide to take the Youtube route, and learn to edit their videos, provide the community there with useful content, because we need more of it there for sure from true experts like us from Hubpages and elsewhere.

Thanks for the supportive comment and for sharing as you do so often Faith, you are a awesome friend.

Mike, I don't have a video camera, but I am seriously considering it. I just don't know enough about them to make an educated purchase. Perhaps you can offer some advice?

I love your short silly video with the 2 boys. It had me chuckling. How many views has it received?

I love this viral idea and often hear of really silly utubes getting that status as well as some writing. One hubber wrote last year she got 10,000 views from a simple recipe...Nothing unusual about it, but that was just one day. Still looking for the magic bullet..just to increase views. Great hub so I will have to save this and reread it many times...Voting up, sharing and pinning.
