Disadvantages of Facebook

Updated on June 5, 2011

Facebook!

Facebook is one of the most popular websites out there today with many people using it in their daily lives. There is no time for thought about its expanding and evergrowing website becoming internets most visited site.

You all will know how popular Facebook has become as you are highly likely to have an account with them as well. But I must warn you that Facebook has many disadvantages that need concern. Let us read more about the disadvantages of Facebook below.

1) Facebook has Viruses!

Despite Facebook being one of the most popular websites on the internet, it will not be an exeption for dangerous viruses. Many viruses on Facebook would rather be brought on by advertisements and infected applications. Always beware of Facebook and remember to update your Anitivirus programs for up to date information on the latest viruses.

2) Facebook is Filled with Scams!

You might have been recieving several notifications about your friends activity on other applications such as questions and gifts. However, the only sly thing these applications do is that once you allow them to share your information, they can use this as their own benefit to advertise spam and scams to your friends.

3) Time Consuming!

We all enjoy spending some time on Facebook for a catch-up on the latest activity on your friends and family members. However, many people choose to browse Facebook photos, videos and endless profiles all day long. This in turn can cause a lot of time consumption which may have been better off spent somewhere else. Some people also choose to skip school and time out with friends to socialize with online buddies.

Summary

Nevertheless, Facebook can be beneficial to a certain degree. For example, businesses and schools can promote or advertise events, affiliate products, websites and more which can bring in income and visitors to your website or event. But on the other hand, it may also ruin your life.

Facebook has turned into a personal online diary that has caused more harm than good to many people, I think. Don't get me wrong, as a marketing tool, it's great (much like twitter), but telling people who you hate or if you're doing #1 or #2 on the toilet right now is another story...
