A Handy Way to Save Hard Drive Space
Do you have a diigo account yet? Well, you should! As one of my assignments for my first Creative Writing courses, we had to create a diigo account. It’s free to sign up and you can access your ‘stuff’ from any computer.
“What is diigo?” you ask. Well, I would describe it as a file saving website. When you are browsing a website, like hub pages for example, you can add a page to diigo and save it. This allows you to read it later at a more convenient time.
Diigo also helps keep your computer from over flowing with ‘read it later’ stuff. AND, it saves space on your hard drive, because you’re not saving pages to your computer, you’re saving them to a website.
Diigo has a virtual highlighter that allows you to highlight more important parts of the things that you save. Also, there are groups you can join and you can add friends. The advantage to this is that a friend may add a site that interests you or that could be useful to you. Or maybe you'll add something that could be useful to a friend.
Today, I wanted to print an informative hub, but discovered my printer ink is too low. So, I saved the hub to diigo and I highlighted the important parts of the hub for future reference. There is a link so that friends can view the entire piece if they click on it.
At the time of the assignment, I told my instructor that I could see that I would use diigo on a regular basis. Now, granted, this is the first time I’ve used it, but I was really glad it was there when the ink wasn’t!
You should check it out! It’s diigo.com.
