About Google Plus

Updated on December 17, 2011

Finally world leading search engine Google, made a new attractive social networking site called Google+ similar to popular social networking site facebook. Though facebook took more than 800 days to reach 10 million users milestone, Google+ took just 16 days to reach this milestone. This shows how Google popular among the internet users.  Though Google has a social networking site called “Orkut”, It wasn’t popular like Google+. The main reason for this may be Orkut doesn’t have better features like Google+. Let’s see what are the main features in Google+ social networking site.

Main Features

Stream – This is the newsfeed feature in Google+ and similar to facebook’s newsfeed.

Sparks – This is a content recommendation engine featured in Google+. This is algorithmic; sparks uses other Google products such as Google search to find most relevant content for your interest.

Circles – Using circles you can share your posts to targeted people such as friends, family members and so on. You can also create new circles as your wish add relevant people to the particular circle.

Photos – Using the photos option you will be able to see photos you tagged in and share photos and configure the privacy of photos. Another advantage of this option, it is integrated with your picasa albums account. Even you can edit photos if you want.

Hangouts – This is a killer feature in Google+. You can start video chatting with your friends and family with hangouts. You can select people in your circles and invite them to join with hangout.

Games – With Google+  you can play flash games like in facebook games. This is also an attractive feature for the people who love to play flash games.

What will be the future of Google+

I can clearly guess that Google+ will dominate the social networking because it is much easier than facebook and other social networks. Any social network does not give email access while social networking. If you are using a Gmail account, you can access your email inbox just from a one click. Actually we can switch to other Google products just from one or two clicks.

If Google+ start Google+ adverts like facebook does, Google will gain high income from it because Google has already won the trust of advertisers via Google adwords and Google adsense. So advertisers will definitely focus their advertising campaigns on Google+.

However according to the sources there are some new features come with Google+. So let’s see what are them and how they effect to Google+’s popularity.

What is your favourite social networking site?

Thanks for the comment. There is a huge difference between Facebook and Google+ interfaces. That's why you feel like that.

Yeah.. you will get familiar with Google+ with the time.

Great informative hub. I am just starting out with google + and I find it a lot more confusing than facebook. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it eventually though. Voting up!

If you are using other Google products such as Gmail, Google serch, Picasa albums, Youtube and so on you may feel much easier to access to them. My opinion is it is more user friendly than facebook. But it has a different interface from facebook. If you are a facebook user you may feel strange for the first few days.

Even to me it was bit difficult to identify some options in Google+. Most of the options are come with new different names to provide the uniqueness of Google+.

Different interface. Anyway I think with the time this difference will be OK.

      Very good!

I have a G+ account - but I've hardly figured out the features at all just yet. Most people are still on Facebook - but I keep reading that Facebook is dropping in visits and active users nowadays.
