Addiction to Twitter and Facebook could lead to this

Updated on April 2, 2014

.

★ツ I understand logging on first thing in the morning

To check what friends/followers are posting.

I understand using it a lot at work

as part of business is to create a Network.

.

★ツ Once, I admit even burning my toast

while on facebook – checking “just one more post.”

But having a computer in the loo

and networking while possibly having a P**?

.

★ツ That’s taking it too far. Don’t you think?

Maybe it’s time to see a shrink....

So, who does this computer belong to?

Own up now, so we can get help for you.

Is this your work station?

Some safety reminders...

.

1) Remember: Never post where you are going on social sites. Example, when you will be away from home or time you will be travelling on holiday.

2) Don’t open links from people you don’t trust – They can be malicious. (with viruses) E;g on Twitter, people send links with no text. Such people usually have no photo on their profile.

3) Use privacy settings. I address this in my Hub: How to stop your Account being Hacked

4) For Teens – Don’t give out your address. A teen in Germany having a party posted her address on Facebook. 1500 people showed up. She had to flee the house. 100 Police officers were called to sort it out. Full story

That computer in the bathroom, well, I can think of no better place to work from than a bathroom if you live in a crowded house. The restroom is so peaceful, that is why it is called that! LOL, though, that was funny, but the advice is precious. Thanks Lady_E.

@Mhatter Qui and Twitter is paying off for many of us - Bloggers and Business peeps, but I'm sure like me, they don't spend too much time on it. Merci.

@UnknownSpy Cheers Unknown spy... mmmh... but how do you get traffic to your blogs? Maybe in that case you could use Tweetdeck or hootsuite just to schedule at least 10 tweets in day. It makes a big difference. That way you are on it for just 15 minutes a day... #JustAthot. :-)

@Thelma - True. It's inviting thieves. I read that there are people who specifically target such tweets / postings. Thanks for stopping.

@Flashmakeit - Hi, it really is addictive. Sometimes, I say to myself, "just 5 more minutes and I'll log off" - 30 minutes later, I'm still online. Good to see you. Thanks.

@Express10 - Sometimes, I think a lot of the older generation are new to Social Networks and don't know how negatively people use it. I appreciate your comment. Cheers.

These are very good tips that should be common sense. I know a woman in her forties who has posted to FB months in advance the specific dates she and her entire family will be out of town. A quick look online or off reveals her address. I cannot fathom why people do things like this, if they need attention perhaps they should work hard at something to EARN it?

That's quite scary. Even more scary is that most of us don't even realize how addicted to technology we are (not as far as putting a computer in the bathroom though!). My husband and I have started a "Technology Free" Date night once a week. This means no cellphones, no TV's, no computers - nothing. It's amazing how much we're missing out on because of all this technology!
