Apple iPod Classic 160GB Black 7th Generation Review

Updated on July 19, 2012

When it comes to MP3 players, we usually look for one thing, space. With the Apple iPod classic, you will have plenty. The 160GB hard drive offers plenty of space, even for those who pack in the songs on their library. I have had this iPod for a year now and I have yet to have any issues.

If anyone has owned the older versions of the Apple iPod, there is a good chance that you experienced some of the issue that I did. I constantly had issues with the last Apple iPod. With the older version, I had issues with the click wheel and hang ups. But with this newer iPod, I am happy to report that I haven't had any problems in a full year. I was very skeptical about buying the newer version iPod. If it wasn't for a few friends that had already bought it, I probably wouldn't have purchased it. I didn't want to take the risk. They ensured me that it was much better so I took the gamble. A year later, I am glad I bought it.

I wanted to point this out because I feel like many people may be turned away from the new one that came out in 2009. This version is a quality product and perfect for any music lover. I have music, pictures, and videos on my iPod and I have yet to come close to using all the space on the 160GB hard drive. I have a large music library also. You have plenty of space to work with on this iPod.

Everything about the Apple iPod Classic 160GB Black 7th generation is better. The processing speed is fast and everything is very responsive. It also has the ability to double the external hard drive and it is perfect for working with larger files. When it comes to MP3 players, it is a top tier player.

With all good things, there are usually a few bad also. The look hasn't changed much on this iPod. It looks similar to the older version. I thought Apple may consider changing the look, but I believe they were concentrating on performance, which they took care of from the older version. This iPod is thin though and very easy to carry. With the appropriate wires, you can hook them into your stereo system at home or your system in the car.

This iPod comes with WiFi, which is great for those who have easy access to a connection. You can get iTunes to begin downloading music. One complaint that I have is when I search for less popular artist, I don't get very much luck. To be honest, I am not sure if it is the iTunes or the iPod. But for the most part, I get all the songs I need. You have the app store where you have access to different apps that are offered. In terms of technology, this iPod is in the lead.

I know there also has been mixed reviews about the sound, so here is my personal opinion. I think the sound is clear and crisp, but it is missing in the bass department. Even so, when I hook it to our stereo system in the house, it sounds awesome. It sounded great in my friends car as well. But through the ear buds, it seems like it is lacking that thump. Even so, the sound is good enough for me.

This iPod also comes with a new interface. This interface is much better then the last one. Even if you are an iPod rookie, you can find your way around. The navigation on this iPod is very easy. You can learn nearly all controls within a day or two. Everything is easy to grasp, even for a first time user.

One of the best features on this Apple iPod is the "Genius" feature. If you have ever had Pandora radio, you know what I am talking about. When you pull up your music, the "Genius" feature pulls up similar music to the song you are looking for. It will pull up more songs that are similar genre/style. This helps a lot when you don't know the title of a specific song.

Overall, I am very happy about this iPod and I would recommend it to anyone. My 6 year old son has one because he shares the same passion that I have for music. He can work it like a pro. If he can learn to work it, anyone can learn to work it. The price is a deal. For the space that is provided on this iPod, you would pay much more then what you are paying for this one. With the great features, space, and price, you won't find a better deal then this iPod. The battery life is much better then the last version. All in all, it is perfect for any music lover. A year in and I am still downloading and playing music.

I've loved all of my ipods throughout the years. I've had four and each one has more than exceeded my expectations. Great hub!
