How to Get the Best Amazon Wireless Cell Phone Deals

Updated on August 28, 2012

Trash That Old Cell Phone

Are you tired of comparing cell phone plans and providers? Are you tired of buying one cell phone only to find that your friend got the same plan cheaper from a different provider?

I know I am. I’m sick and tired of dealing with cell phone companies that use high-pressure techniques to sell me a plan that I’m locked into for a year or more. That goes double for those doofuses that lie in wait just inside Sams and Target and pull me aside when I’m in a hurry – trying to sell me a new plan.

I think I’ve shopped just about everywhere online and in stores for cell phone plans but finally, I found something I like. From Amazon, no less. I don’t know how long Amazon’s been selling cell phones and plans but I’ve purchased all kinds of things from Amazon in the past eight years and, as far as online merchants go, they’re at the top of my list.

When I discovered that Amazon offered cell phones and plans I checked it out. Do your own research and I think you’ll find that Amazon is just about the best deal around when it comes to buying a cell phone plan. And they have a wide assortment of smart phones and just plain “all-I-wanna-do-is-talk” models.

Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX 4G Android

This is an all-time favorite cell phone associated with Verizon. It’s just a hint more than 1/3-inch thick, making it great for tucking away in purses and pockets. The DROID RAZR enjoys a long battery life – and features a high-quality 8-meg camera on the back for high-resolution shots and another 1.3-meg camera on the front for those shots you just HAVE to capture right now!

The DROID RAZR operates on Verizon’s new and ultra-fast 4G network, so you can upload those images to Facebook or send them to a friend in no time flat. Forget about waiting ten minutes to send your shots.

Amazon says that the DROID RAZR monitors your behavior with artificial intelligence to optimize your experience, but I’ve not heard anyone say they think that’s true. Still – the phone offers peer-to-peer gaming so the price, which is currently $99, with a new Verizon plan – is a HUGE draw for gamers. Without the plan, the phone runs over $700. Ouch.

I like the idea of being able to link the phone to my HDTV and the fact that you can add super apps, lke Quickoffice or MOTOPrint. Verizon offers backup assistant and GPS-capability in addition to visual voice mail and V-Cast Video. All in all – this is a pretty sweet deal.

AT&T Cell Phones and Plans from Amazon Wireless

AT&T’s got some sweet cell phone deals featured on Amazon Wireless. When you purchase the plan, you can get your choice of many great phones for one cent. All right – we all know that the cost of the phone is spread out over the cost of the plan, but Amazon draws in millions of shoppers so cell phone providers can afford to cut their costs on phones because Amazon brings in more subscribers.

Among the cell phones you can get for a penny (with a plan) are the Motorola Atrix2 Android, the reliable Samsung Galaxy S III Android and the Pantech Breeze III (for those who think texting is the devil’s work). Also for one cent are the Samsun Captivate Glide ( a fav of mine) and the BalckBerry Torch 4G 9810. The real beauties, like the HTC One X 4G Android, will set you back about $169. Still, that’s a pretty great deal compared to in-store prices.

No Contract Phones

Not everyone wants to sign away a year or two of their life for one phone company. Some people can’t get a cell phone because their credit isn’t as good as the cell phone company thinks it should be.

Whatever your reason for not wanting to sign a contract, Amazon has good news for you, too. You can choose from LOTS of sweet cell phones on Amazon Wireless and pay as you go.

No contract at all. And you don’t have to settle for bottom-of-the-barrel cell phones that don’t get clear reception and don’t have any options. You know the kind I’m talking about. The kind that you have to make an excuse to use the restroom so your friends won’t see your phone – or you have to have your girlfriend crochet a fuzzy cell phone cover to hide it.

Heck with that. On Amazon Wireless, you can choose great no-contract phones at pretty cool prices. Pay for service by the month and drop the plan when you see fit. No strings. And isn’t that what we all want anyway? A little freedom from the oppressive contracts and charges?

One warning, though. Choose only the amount of minutes you think you’ll use or you’ll end up spending too much for monthly service. If for some reason, you think you’re going to go over your minutes allotment for the month - buy more minutes before making the additional calls. On no-contract plans, you could be billed an astronomical amount for overages – or your phone will simply cease to operate. Neither is a fun thing to experience.

Wonderful guide ^_^ I personally prefer the no contract tracfone ^_^ I rarely use my phone so I bought a cheap phone with the double for life attached to it for only $20 then I just buy a one year service card for a little under $100 and it gives me just over a thousand minutes for the year. I've had the same phone for 4 years so if you figure it out monthly I pay less than $8.75 a month. For someone who uses their phone for the occasional appointment and call to the relatives this is the perfect plan.
