Android smartphones might not have as many apps as the iPhone but it sure is trying to catch up fast. Android is taking the smartphone world by storm and apps are popping everywhere almost about anything. Here are some of the few Android apps that you may find very useful.


Pandora is a popular site that streams music over the Internet for FREE. It’s like your own personalized radio. Now you can use it to stream music to your Android phone. Start using Pandora by searching your favorite song or artist and it will create a “station” that plays their music and similar songs of the same genre. If you are already a Pandora user, you can still access your existing stations.

QR Droid (Generator/Decoder)

A QR code, derived from “Quick Response”, is a two dimensional matrix bar code created by a Japanese corporation back in 1994 to allow its contents to be decoded at very high speed. It is no surprise that Motorola Droid inherited this capability to scan and read QR bar codes to easily get apps. QR Droid is a FREE app allowing you to create QR codes for your contacts, bookmarks, apps and more, and it also allows you to read other QR codes.

This app uses the camera on your Android smartphone to read 1D and 2D barcodes of a product and look up product information, reviews, or price on the Web. It works fast. If you are tech and savvy shopper then you will find this application very useful to check the price of a product online before buying to make sure you got a good deal. Movie Finder

Movie Finder by ikamobile is a simple, fast, and free Android app to find out when and where movies are playing near you. You can browse theatres, watch trailers, or read reviews, fast. It comes in handy when you suddenly decided to see a movie but have not decided yet which movie to see or where to go. You can also save movie posters as your wallpaper on this app.

Ringdroid is an Android app that allows you to edit an existing audio file and save it as music, ringtone, alarm tone, or notification tone. Current supported formats are MP3, AAC/MP4, WAV, and 3GPP/AMR. No support for WMA formats as of now.
