Great Creations of the 2000s

1. I-Phone: It is a virtual touch phone. It has a camera, it lets you watch TV shows, surf the internet, listen to music (through Pandora), play games, do your dictation right on your phone and it has a huge variety of covers and the Otterbox is built specifically for the I-Phone. Other phones copy the style of I-Phones all the time. There are so many different accessories that can be purchased to go with the phone. The best thing about these smart phones is the amount of functions that they can perform in the palm of your hand. These devices now hold a charge for days at a time depending on the usage of your device.

2. You Tube: A place to go on the internet to watch videos of just about anything. You tube allows you to become a free member. One of the things that I like about that is the fact that you get to save the videos under your favorites on the computer. Pictures can be uploaded from the digital camera to You Tube, for the whole world to see. There are crazy things to watch, good things to watch, and things that you won't believe. There are always some celebrities posting things that should not be seen by the public. Not only should they not be put on You Tube but, you have to ask, why do they tape these things?

3. Wireless Headset: A great invention to keep secretaries and phone operators are given headsets that will keep them from sitting with head cocked to the right or left. If your on the phone a lot then getting a head set is a grand idea indeed. They are not costly anyway nowadays. I have had headsets in the past and after having had the headset it is really hard to have to hold the receiver again. I am one of those who sits with their head cocked to one side.

4. Segway: These are 2 wheeled machines that you can stand up right on and steer with two handlebars. Some uses for the Segway are rich people and police. Examples: Floyd Mayweather drives his Segway through the house and even some of his children have one as well.

In our area, we have also seen the Birmingham Police Department using the Segway to scoot around the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center (BJCC), during concert time and I must say these things look fun. The Segway will go up to 12.5 miles per hour. This would really help the cops if they are trying to chase someone down.

5. DVR/TIVO: TIVO is an amazing invention. If you have to get up to get a snack, pause the TV and you can come right back to it. Also, you can use it to record your favorite television shows, movies without a DVD player. You can record television shows to record and then you can watch them later. the same thing goes for movies. This amazing technology lets you fast forward through the commercials.

6. Blue Tooth: A fascinating little device that can be used to share your music, ringtones for your phone and this feature also allows you to have a "hands free feature", (blue tooth). that will play your phone conversation through the speakers of the vehicle. Most of the cars now a days have this capability.

7. GPS: This stands for Global Positioning System. This lists all streets, interstates and you can also search for points of interest, restaurants, shops, gas stations and banks/ATM's. You can search by category or by a specific address.

8. I-Pad: What can this portable, thin as a magazine, fast as lightning machine not do? It will allow you to open up nine (YES)!! nine separate internet pages. The I-Pad is also great for writing and storing ideas for new hubs!! This is a great invention. This is a paper thin computer. There are different cases to fit your personality.

9. Electric Car: This car can be plugged in on the streets of London. These little cars do not use any gasoline and therefore, are safer for the environment. Also, not having to stop for gas all of the time not only will save you time but, lots of money in the long run as well. I fully believe that in a few years, instead of filling stations, we will have electric stations, where you go and plug up the car. This is sort of something that we have made fun of in the past and it seemed so far out of reach. Now, the technology is growing by leaps and bounds and it is here.

10. Tri-Specs: These are glasses that have a MP3 player built into the sides of the lenses. By clicking on the glasses, you can choose a song to listen to. This has been capitalized on with Google glass which was an idea that was stemmed from the Tri-specs.

The Car of The Future

Electric cars are slowly but surely taking over the auto industry. Gas prices have soared to all time highs and electric cars are a suitable invention. Also, Hybrid automobiles have been doing well and they save lots of gas and get great mileage.

Just a quick note: Your Segway video doesn't work. GPS was invented in the early 1970s. It was made public in the early 1990s! Great work otherwise! Your hubs are always entertaining. Thanks for the great hubs!
