Best Student Laptop 2016

Updated on December 2, 2015

In best student laptop 2016 we are going to take a quick look at what makes a top student laptop and then we will shortly review some of the best selling student laptops on the market.

What to look for in a student laptop:

  • Portability: Students should be able to carry their laptops around with them. So you need to look at size, weight and durability. Most laptops are available in sizes between 13 and 17 inches. I recommend only looking at laptops smaller than 15 inches.
  • Cost VS power: Students are fairly price sensitive, but they need a laptop that can run several applications quickly. Striking the balance between the 2 is up to you. You will find that large online retailers, like Amazon, sometimes buy large numbers of laptops and then sell them at a discounted price. Bargain hunting for a student laptop is worth the effort.
  • Brand: I would recommend buing a laptop from a larger player in the laptop market who you can trust, like Toshiba, Asus, Apple, Hp, Dell or Compaq.
  • Battery life: The notebook producers have lately gotten better at making laptops that run longer on less battery power. You need to be aware of your battery needs and then get a laptop that can run as long as you need it to, between recharges.

Toshiba Satellite T655D-S5085 TruBrite 15.6" Laptop

The Toshiba is great value for money. Price wise it's in the middle of the pack, but it is still fairly powerful when it comes to running applications.

The very thin Toshiba Satellite T655D-S5085 provides fast and broad range Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking. Like most laptops it also offers Ethernet jack, mic and headphone port. The three USB ports allow you to connect your speaker, wireless mouse and charge your cell at the same time. Enjoy the sharp clear quality of movies on the 15.6 HD glossy backlit screen or connect your flat screen via the HDMI output or standard VGA port.

There is a 55 second idle startup and 9 second shutdown time thanks to the Intel Ultra-low voltage processor. You’re powered up all day with the 3.5 hours of battery life. The T655D-S5085 gives you fast and easy access to your e-mails, connecting to Facebook or refreshing your Twitter feed.

The 320 GB Serial ATA hard drive impact sensor protects your system sudden movement or dropping it by “parking” the system. The whisper quiet fan default speed shuts off during low activity.
