Blog For Business and For Fun

Janine Huldlie

The Beginning

Being of entrepeneurial spirit I am always looking for new ways and ideas to make money. I love the activity of creating and succeeding in whatever I decide to do. I have started many businesses, and I have enjoyed success and failure.

Today starting a new business can offer many new venues, and require a lot of legwork. The good news is that a good deal of the work can be done in the comfort of your own home with computers, faxes, cell phones etc. However the success of most businesses depend on how well you market the produce or service, and get the word out to your potential customers or clients. No matter how good your product or service may be it is not enough for success. And the best word of mouth is right here before your very eyes--online. Don't wait another day to start launching your new idea.

Make the Decision and Go For It

Being a Libra decisions of any kind drive me nuts. Whenever I start a new venture, I am like a big wheel with many spokes, and have to try every spoke. I have been an Astrologer for over 30 years, and it seems to reappear in my life when I least expect. Of course I am not happy just reading astrology charts but have to explore many other related ideas.

Here are a few of the spokes on the wheel.

1. Reading natal and compatibility charts

2. Astrology graphics for each sign--interpreted in wall hangings, T shirts and tote bags.

3. A book which I am working on.

4, A blog which will always have something new.

I am so grateful to have Janine to help with new ideas as they emerge--and they will! I think she is getting used to my always coming up with new ideas and more work for her to do.

Important rules to follow when beginning your new venture.

Always make sure you love what you are doing, love your products or services.

Have fun!

Make samples of your work and share what you are offering with friends and family.

Pat attention to everyone's comments as these people may be your potential customers.

Do your homework, research and check out what is going on in your particular field.

Competition is good, but not an overwhelming amount.

Make sure you have something special to offer that will entice people.

The Blog or Website

A BLOG OR WEBSITE IS A NECESSITY IN TODAY'S BUSINESS LANDSCAPE

1. You establish credibility.

2. You can showcase your products and services.

3. People can order what you offer online,

4. You can promote with social network marketing, online presence and create word of mouth.

5. Blogs have become increasingly popular and offer almost as much as a website.

6. Blogs are affordable, easy to change and navigate.

Janine and My Blog

I am almost a total dud when it comes to anything in life that is technical, has instructions and requires patience. However I decided to try my hand at doing my own blog. After torture, frustration and impatience I asked my Hubpages friends if they knew anyone who create a spectacular blog.

I found the perfect person. Her name is Janine Huldie of J9 Designs well known for her Mommyaholic popular blog.

I gave her a call to start the ball rolling, and we talked about what I wanted and needed. She listened carefully and started working. I never heard a word that she couldn't do something or something wasn't going to work.

She was positive, enlightening and even accomplished things while we were talking on the phone. That is serious multi-tasking. I am a stickler for dependability from people. An email or phone to Janine got a call get a response within an hour. You would never know that Janine has two kids demanding her attention, which we all know is a 24/7 job.

We had several major glitches with outside sources, and she never gave up, never showed frustration and solved these problems easily--regardless of my usual panic. Whatever I asked for was done. in a short period of time. Watching my ideas become alive was so much fun.

To boot she is creative and inventive. I was so happy with her work I told her I would babysit free for her any time. Too bad we live 3000 miles apart.

The Blog Process

Most of our connection with Janine has been through emails, as it will be for you when you decide on someone to help you put together your blog. The entire process took a few weeks and would have been less without the outside problems. She created everything to my specifications, as well as saving me hours of time trying to attempt this myself, not that I possibly could have. If you have someone with expertise set up your blog, this will allow you using energy to create your ideas. Most of us have a vision of what we want, and always what we want to feature and a good blog designer will accomplish that for you.

Janine was dependable, creative and affordable, and a bonus was that I really liked her. Can't beat that!

I love this hub, Carol, and your ingenious promotion of a fellow Hubber in a reader-friendly fashion. Kudos to you for taking the time to multi-task with this presentation--1) You wrote about the entrepreneurial value of having a blog; 2) you introduced us to a fellow hubber and her special talents; and 3) you wrote a review about Janine's work. Absolutely smashing! Aloha, my friend, and may your book-writing efforts be abundantly blessed.

Thanks for sharing this information with us. Hearing about what someone else has done gives me a heads up which I appreciate.

Carol, I've been to your blog site. Janine did a fabulous job! I have been considering building a blog site but am having trouble coming up with a single niche. I initially wanted to just talk about life, meaning whatever pops into my head, but as my brother pointed out (who I consulted for the artwork), who would my audience be? Hmmm. Now I'm back to square one.
