Have you ever wondered what your chat mate is saying when those acronyms suddenly popped up your screen? It's what we call, the "Chat Lingo" or "Chat Slang". These acronyms are also useful when sending messages through text to prevent exceeding certain number of characters and end-up sending enhanced text messages which costs extra. Also, for parents, it is important to understand today's chat lingo so we can relate to our kids, guide them on the proper use of chat and teach them the right behavior in the chat room. I have listed some of the commonly used Chat Lingo below.

As I've said, you can also use this in text messaging to save characters, it works for me. These acronyms are really useful and fun, as long as you know their meanings and how to use them.

Also take note, although I've written most of the texts in all caps, it's still better to use small caps when chatting. In chats or emails, using all caps can be interpreted as shouting or being angry.
