Colored Cable Ties

Updated on January 28, 2011

Alright, so the idea behind this hub came from my previous Velcro Cable Straps. While writing for it, I mentioned, as part of my tips, the idea of using color-coded wire ties for organization. So I figured there must be a niche there somewhere. In this hub we shall concentrate on shoppers looking for similar items, but have a different intended application.

If you are one of those searching for colored cable ties, you are probably more keen on organizing than having an idea of the kind of strap that you are looking for. So, let’s take a short moment here and discuss some possible colored strap options that you can consider. Any of these would work well, but after describing some of them you might have a better idea of what suits your intended application better.

Kinds of cable and wire ties

First, there is the aforementioned Velcro cable tie which is a personal favorite of mine. There are very much available in multiple colors so you wouldn’t have a problem there. What I like about these is that they are very easy to fasten and unfasten, and they are reusable. However, to some, the fastening strength of Velcro might not be enough—especially for industrial applications.

You also have the more-common nylon wire ties. These are those that “click” in place. These are very strong, available in an assortment of colors and are very cheap. Most sell these in packs. You also have different choices in length and width, serving all kinds of applications from simple cord tying to fastening the likes of hose reels. As for such, heavy-duty cable ties are also very much available in different colors. However, some while some of these advertise themselves as releasable cable ties, I often find it hard to reuse especially those that are small. Because of its relatively cheap value, I often find myself simply cutting them when disassembling.

Other than nylon, there are also heavy-duty straps made from metal. These might not be what you’re looking for but in any case, these work well for fastening and securing hoses such as those found in engines. To make things more organized and permanent, these also have the features of being screw-mount cable ties, wherein a small screw hole beside the tie is located for fastening on a solid surface.

Some colored cable ties

So anyway, I don’t think there’s anymore left to discuss and suggest for those shopping for colored cable ties so feel free below to see what kinds of styles and colors are available for such. Good luck and I hope you find what you’re looking for.
