Dangers Of Facebook

Dangers of using facebook

Facebook as most people would know is a social networking site where many adolescents or people even a little older like to visit. Facebook is a place where people can play games but most importantly it is a place where people post comments and pictures. Though it as a like billion users most people are oblivious to some of the dangers which it can hold.

Personal Details – Many people post their real personal details on facebook including emails, phone numbers, photos and even schedules on facebook. If you are one of those people, other people can know your exact location and what you look like. Don't you think you’re making life really easy for stalkers and kidnappers?

Applying for a school/job – Many universities and organizations now check on facebook whether you have been a good boy or girl. If you post pictures of yourself binge drinking in a party…or sleep in your own vomit. I’m sure you wouldn't give your potential future school or boss a very good impression. It doesn't matter how good that résumé is, when the photos you post reflect how poor some of your life choices are.

Antisocial – I’m sure you heard of people with like 1000 facebook friends and think they are really hardcore. But the fact is that they probably only know about 50 people out of those 1000. The fact is you would only have 1000 facebook friends if and only if you have nothing better to do than to stay at home and chat or play games on facebook.

Scammers – Facebook has many scammers who make friends with you for a period of months or even years. Then they will try to con you into giving them money. Others might pretend to be a pretty girl or a handsome boy and ask you to meet them in real life either mug your or assault you in some way.

      Hello Thrulz,

I have thought about these issues, and it is one of the reasons I still have not opened a FB account. I am hounded by friends to do so, and realize I could promote my work more easily that way. But it seems like an intrusion too. If I want to talk to a friend or show them a picture, I'd rather do it in person! From what others tell me, FB keeps changing to the point it is annoying, though that is the case with many sites.
