Drive traffic by adding blogger url and sitemap to yahoo search engine

Updated on September 14, 2010

Since Yahoo search engine market share about 17.7 % in April 2010, adding your blog url and sitemap in Yahoo will help you to drive traffic to your site.

And this will directly increase your advertising revenue.

The step are as follows:

Go to Yahoo's Site Explore, the url is http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

Access the site using your Yahoo account, if you have mail account just login using your Yahoo id and password.

Type your blogger url and click “Add My Site

Next you need to authenticate that the blog is your's.

To authenticate, use the second method by adding meta tag to your blogger html file.

You need to change the code from

META name="y_key" content="your_code"

To the following code, just add the / symbol

META name="y_key" content="your_code" /

Then access your blogger, Click Design, Click Edit Html and find “meta content='IE=EmulateIE7'”.

Place the code below it just like below.

And Click “Save Template

Now, go back to Yahoo's site explorer, all this while we haven't log out from this site.

If you have already log, then just go to the site, Click Authentication at left bar, and Click “Ready To Authenticate

Once you have clicked the link, in a few moment Yahoo will notify that your site has been authenticated.

Steps to add your blogger post and comments feeds are as follow.

Click My Sites, Click the site that you want to add the feeds.

Click Feeds at your left bar, and add the following feed urls relative to your site.

  1. atom.xml?redirect=false
  2. feeds/posts/default
  3. feeds/comments/default

Image below, it takes about 24-48 hours to process the sitemap.

      Hi Ab_Cooldude,

You could add any url of your website in yahoo siteexplorer. I have updated all sites in the yahoo.

Good point about blogger, google like it. But you still need to do the seo things to get better rankings. You need too add html tag alt, title for the images. Write long title to reach more audience.

      Thanks for the comment !

cool article! But why only Blogger URL?

And one more question- Does having a blog on Google's Blogger increases our visibility on Google Search?
