Facebook and its addictive games
Social Networking was never more fun
Facebook has been topping the list of many social media sites. It is popular with all ages groups and is growing like there's no tomorrow. The number of times I get friend requests from people I thought I would never see in my life again is amazing. I try and not approve any one who I have not met before, but some online friends have also earned their way into my friend list. (Who says you can't be friends if you have never met?)
The fact is that facebook is taking over my life. I check in to my account many times each day to see what the rest of my friends are up to. I update my status at least twice a week and of course I play games. Interactive games with school friends who I have not met in person in almost two decades. (Yes I am that old.) Who would have thought it possible in those days? Still I'm very glad for it.
Facebook has a number of applications that make your experience very interactive. There are all kinds of smiles and hugs that you can give your friends. You can even give them a virtual poke! Then you can play vocabulary enhancing games like word twist or scrabble. Number games like Sudoku, card games like Uno, and of course my current favorite obsession of virtual farming on Farmville.

As you know I'm addicted to Farmville, and its not just me, but my full family. I'd say my son is the most conscientious farmer around.

Farmville : My Virtual Farm
Never in a million years would I have thought that I would be suckered into this game. Building up a virtual farm, complete with crop fields, farm yard animals, fruit trees, and machinery for harvesting and ploughing is really truly addictive.
Given here is a picture of my virtual farm as of today. As you can see I am doing quite well in this game. The coins you use to buy seeds and plant them in the fields, or buy trees or even farm animals. The harvest will give you more coins and if your crop withers the investment also goes down the drain.
The second is Farmville Cash which is used for buy specific products including fuel for your tractor (you can just about see the spec of red in the right hand bottom corner) or even expanding the farm. These can also be bough by real dollars using your credit card if you are in a hurry to set up a tip top farm.
Then comes the experience points which give you the level. At present I am at 8660 points and at level 19. These points keep increasing with each fresh planting and harvesting of crops that you do. As you climb higher levels more varieties of fruits, vegetables and grains become available for you to grow.
The crop or fruit trees can take from a day to four to get ready for harvest. The animals too are interesting. Milk the cows, collect the eggs from the hens or feathers from the ducks, its great fun to see the highlighted animal awaiting your care. Of course if you immobilize your virtual farmer you do go through the chores much faster. In my case I used the bales of hay to capture the virtual me in the middle of the farm. It sure cut down on the time I spent playing farmville.
Its not quite as sinister as it sounds. It is also a game from Zynga or the makers of Farmville. It allows you to lead a life of virtual crime. The list of crimes get more and more vicious as you go higher up in each level. Given in the picture is the list of crimes that you commit as a common street thug of the lowest level.
- Facebook Application : Mafia Wars
Talk about the Mafia and you think of Chicago or New York a couple of decades ago. You think of men in pinstriped suits who "make you an offer you can't refuse." The God Father is always at the back of your mind and crime is a way of life. So what do
- Facebook Application: Mafia Wars | Gameolosophy
I never knew that being bad could be so much fun...join a life of crime in the Mafia Wars Game on Facebook and enjoy being nasty.
There are a number of things that you need to keep tabs on when you play Mafia Wars on Facebook. to do each job you need to have a certain amount of energy, and some specific tools. If you don't have the tools, don't worry, you can buy them.
There is a whole inventory of weapons, armor, vehicles and boosts that is waiting for you to buy. Naturally you need money to buy the stuff and that can be gained by doing the petty crimes that need no help but some energy points.
You can increase your energy points with the skill points that you get when you master each level. You can also use the skill points to help improve your health and stamina points. These are what you will use when you get into one on one fights with members of other mafias.
You and your friends fight the other mafia boss and his friends. All your friends are armed with weapons from your inventory, so make sure you have enough guns and defense to cover each member of your mafia. Again you can buy all this from the inventory, but you can also get these as gifts from members of your mafia.
You are only allowed to send one gift to a friend in your network each day. So make sure its a good one. Also one a day you are allowed to play a Daily Chance gamble ticket. The end of the week draw may see you winning some interesting loot items. So make sure you play each day and remember to claim your mystery bonus.
Though this game is very different from the Farmville one, there are many common features which run though in Cafe World as well. So its easy to get addicted to this one too. Although being a girl I am more attached to the growing and nurturing that goes on in Farmville than the crime jobs in Mafia Wars.
Amazing Chef at great Cafe cooking up yummy dishes for you. The latest offering from Zynga is a game in its Beta Version called Cafe World. You are the chef at this cafe and cook things like mentioned in the cook book picture given below.
While I'm still getting the hang of this game, it is proving to be just as addictive and interesting as its farming and mafia siblings. Will update this once I know a bit more about this game.
