Free Banner & Facebook Banner

Updated on May 11, 2011

Make a Banner for your Facebook profile

Ok, so this is a bit of a random hub and is all to do with Facebook skins or web banners which ever you chose to call them and they are funky graphics which make the plain white profile look more individual to the person who owns it.

Since Facebook backgrounds are largely searched for at present because the new Facebook design was updated to include them, I decided to search for some cool banners on Flickr's creative commons section to provide people with a free banner resource.

You can create a banner by using the 'right click - save as' option and then importing these into any image manipulation software such as Photoshop, from here you will need to divide the banner into 5 equally sized square image files. You can name these '1.jpg', '2.jpg' etc to make it easier when uploading them in the right order to you Facebook album. I have embedded a video below which provides a more in depth set of instructions for setting your banner size.

Web Banners

The above Illustrator generated web banners are fairly simple in design for anybody who wants to go for a subtle look, they might also make a good starting point if you want to overlay text for your own banner design. If you do plan on adapting these works, it is suggested that you contact the owner first and don't forget to provide a hyperlink back to them as I have done when you upload to Facebook!

Free Logos

I tried to find some free logos as well as pattern web banners since I know there are a lot of typography lovers out there, I thought the above design was quite funky and has a cool worm looking character with headphones!

Free Flash Banners

Are far as I know, so far Facebook banners don't include free Flash banner designs, although I have seen these in effect on BlogTV profiles and they add more interactiveness for the viewer. I did however, find the most eye catching banners as you can see above with a cool design to show your friends if you are a big 'Paramore' fan.

Facebook Badge

The following designs are aimed more towards girls but we know this makes up a large percentage of Facebook users.

I entitled this capsule 'Facebook badges' because I know a lot of inexperienced social networkers will automatically call them this, but Facebook badges are actually an official tool in your account where you can make a banner using their theme and place it as a direct link to your profile on other websites you own.

Banner Creator

I don't personally use a banner creator, I have a series of cool photos that remain stationary in place of this, remember that if you get tagged in a new photo you will lose part of the banner but can remove new ones by clicking the 'x' in the corner of each.

Rather than waffle on after each of the designs, I will cut short the text part and leave you with 5 more variations included below. These banners range from the popular greeting card character style through to cute nursery rhyme themes, all great for showing your sweet side!
