Updated on June 11, 2011

Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map & Traffic Updates

It’s easy to lose your way when traveling across the country or driving in an unfamiliar city.  That’s why vehicle navigational devices are very popular these days.  These devices are also becoming more affordable.  For less than $200, you can own a Garmin nüvi 1450LMT 5-Inch Portable GPS Navigator.  The Garmin GPS is loaded with useful features and comes with lifetime map and traffic updates.

Never Get Lost Again

It’s nice to have a GPS with all the bells and whistles, but any navigational device is only as good as its maps.  An outdated map won’t get you from point A to point B in the fastest, most economical route.

In fact, it may not even get you where you want to go.  Knowing how important it is to have maps that are accurate and up-to-date, Garmin provides lifetime map updates for its nüvi 1450LMT portable GPS navigator.  Free downloads of map updates are available up to 4 times a year.  There are no subscription or update fees, and no expiration dates.

Up-to-date traffic information is at your fingertips with the Garmin 1450LMTS GPS.  You’ll know if there’s a traffic jam up ahead and plan your route accordingly.

Large Screen

With the bright, 5-inch touchscreen display, it’s easy to see where you’re going.  Mp details, driving directions, and other information are displayed clearly in full color.

Plan Ahead

Before starting your trip you can plan your route and save up to 10 routes.  You can also preview simulated turns to familiarize yourself with the planned route.  For multiple destinations, the nüvi 1450LMT can sort destinations to provide the most efficient route.

Preloaded Maps and POIs

The Garmin GPS comes preloaded with detailed street maps and nearly 6 million points of interest (POIs).  Maps are shown in 2-D and 3-D with the speed limit of most major roads in the United States and Europe.  Maps also show the elevation at higher zoom levels so you get a big picture of the surrounding terrain.  The nüvi 1450LMT’s advanced user interface allows you to scroll between screens by sliding your finger.  You can also upload custom POIs.

Voice Directions

The touchscreen allows you to look up addresses and services quickly.  When traveling, you get voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions to your destination.  Street names are also spoken.  With the voice prompts, you can keep your eye on the road while driving.

Pedestrian Navigation

The Garmin nüvi 1450LMT is also useful for pedestrians who want to get around town.  You can download the optional cityXplorer content so you will know where to walk or catch public transportation like a bus, train, tram, or subway.  cityXplorer maps are available for a number of select cities in North America and Europe.  Prices for downloads are as low as $9.99.

Lane Assist

It’s always good to know which lane you need to be in when approaching a turn or exit.  The Garmin GPS guides you to the correct lane for an upcoming turn, making it easy to navigate unfamiliar intersections and exits.  The GPS displays road signs and junctions, and arrows indicate the proper lane to be on.

What Customers Say

The screen is bright and images are sharp.  It is big enough for easy reading while driving but does not get in the way when mounted in your vehicle.  The suction cup mount that comes with it works very well.
