How CFRP can change a Bridge's Life!!!
There is a PROBLEM!!!
There is a bridge about 30 years old. Since the last 1 month the amount of traffic going over the bridge has suddenly increased.
Few more days and the bridge would not be able to carry any more weight. Now, there are 3 possible SOLUTIONS to our problem
1. Blow up the bridge and build a new one. (That's EXPENSIVE)
2. Put restrictions on traffic (This would build Anger among the already pissed off suburban commuters)
3. Retrofit- Increase the strength of the Bridge by Steel Jacketing
But there is again a PROBLEM!!! Steel Jacketting has some serious (mommy?) issues.

Its the Lamborghini Avantador.
There is a thin layer of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) over its body which makes it very light and gives it strength.(Just what we need)
Now, take the same CFRP and put it over the bridge.
And you hit the JACKPOT!!!
But how is Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer better than the Steel Jacketing?

C0ST: 10x compared to STEEL of same strength.
