Recycling can be fun and profitable.

Updated on August 6, 2014

Recycling is easy.

The purpose of this article is to encourage you to recycle and to learn that recycling is easy and profitable.

I recycle, paper, plastic & aluminum. As well as other materials to be covered in another hub.

These days most everything you buy is recyclable. Many products are made from recycled material and this is a trend that is not going to change anytime soon if anything you will see a huge increase in reusable materials in the things you buy.

Why Recycle?

Recycling helps to reduce waste and save valuable resources,it also helps to keep the cost of manufacturing goods lower and as a result it makes the thing you buy cost less. Also recycling helps to slow down deforestation, helps keep your power bills down and your community cleaner. Truly the benefits of recycling are mind boggling.

Recycling also can provide a small amount of extra money, for example I pick up cans as well as plastic bottles and trash while I walk daily, after a few months I will have picked up 50-60 dollars in aluminum cans alone. There really is that much waste laying on the side of the road.It makes me sick to see how uncaring people can be sometimes. Ok enough ranting.

Here is what you need to recycle.

Three large plastic totes ---- preferably with a lid and a paper shredder.

I get a lot of junk paper mail, I will shred it and put it in my paper recycling bin.

Other things that go in the Paper bin

  • Paper
  • Tissue
  • Cereal Boxes
  • Food Boxes made of Paper
  • Soda containers
  • Anything made of paper

Things that go in the Plastic Bin

  • Soda Bottles
  • Dish Detergent Bottles
  • Laundry Detergent Bottles
  • Milk Bottles
  • Individual Dental Floss Pics
  • Anything that is made of Plastic

In my Aluminum Bin I just put smashed aluminum cans in there and it is a good idea to keep them covered at all times because flies love to lay eggs in the cans if they are uncovered.

In closing I alway break down my boxes to make them lay flat in my bins (I do this simply to make more room in the bin) and I dump them once a week in a community recycling bin. Watch the video below and you will see how I have my bins laid out and if you need a shredder I will provide a link at the bottom to buy one just like mine in the picture of this article.

It makes me feel good to recycle and I am proud to help keep my community clean, I do not litter and I will continue to try to inspire people to recycle and I hope you will do the same.

Thanks for reading and I look forward to your comments.

I think its very important to shred all your documents, Identity theft is the #1 crime in the USA right now and is on the rise, its better to be safe than sorry.
