Using Yahoo to remotely monitor your home is not recommended for security purposes alone. Having good security, alarms and locks to stop anyone breaking into your home in the first place is much more important than wasting cash on CCTV. It's all about peace of mind and what best suits your needs.
If you have Yahoo installed, you may be interested in a very good Yahoo chat client called YahELite. This program has much more features including incredibly better features and much more security.
LATEST UPDATE: Since I wrote this article; Yahoo now requires you to have two email accounts and two mobile phone numbers to create another Yahoo ID. This now used to verify new users.
