How to Cancel or Delete Myspace Account

Updated on July 2, 2011

I used to spend hours a day on Myspace a few years ago. It was a phenomenal time killer when I had homework that needed to be done. After the initial appeal of Myspace wore off, they hooked me right back with the games they offered. That was fine and dandy for a while, but one day I logged out and, for some reason, just never came back.

I didn't make a conscientious effort to avoid Myspace. My friends and I didn't get together and decide that Myspace wasn't cool anymore. It just happened. And strangely, around the same time, everyone I knew stopped using Myspace as well.

I can't say the reason was because we all grew out of social networking because, still to this day, my friends and I use Facebook. It may have been all the spam that seemed to increase everyday. Whatever the reason, my Myspace page stayed unattended for over 2 years. So today, I decided to take the plunge and delete it to get it out of my hair.

I compiled all the steps required to delete a Myspace account. It's not all that difficult nor time consuming. I've added pictures of every step to ensure simplicity, though I'm sure you will find the process to be relatively straight forward. Myspace has ensured that you would not accidentally cancel your account by making you click "cancel account" on several occasions, plus adding an email verification to cancel.

I hope you find this helpful!

(On a side note, within 5 minutes of longing into my account for the first time in 2+ years, I received 16 spam Myspace messages that were 'conveniently' forwarded to my email address. I believe it's safe to say, SPAM was a crucial player in the downfall of the once mightyMyspace.com)

Start by going to Myspace.com and logging in to your account.

After logging in, click the 'My Stuff' tab. Under that heading, to the far left, click on 'Account Settings'.

Now, Myspace is going to try a half-hearted attempt to talk you out of canceling. Ignore their ploy, select a reason for deletion, and click "Cancel Account".

And one more attempt to talk you out of it...go ahead and click "Cancel Account" (yet again).

Now, just to ensure that you officially hate Myspace, they will make you check your email for further instructions on deleting your account.

I like how you added screen shots to describe how to cancel your account. I think facebook has really been winning the war on social networking. Myspace is near its death.

Some sites have really nasty account removal policies. Check the blacklist on www.accountkiller.com, there's even a few big sites likes skype that don't allow removing your account at all!

      Thanks,

      Peter.
