How to Copy and Paste on a Mac , MacBook, i-Mac

Updated on December 30, 2015

Few words about mac

If you are a new user of famous Macbook and OS X you probably will be surprised with the differences between Windows and X operating systems. In the beginning, it might even look that windows is more easy to use in comparison with os x. But as time passes and you get used to this amazing piece of technology, you will definitely appreciate its flawless "rendition" on a daily basis.

French people use to say -We are not that rich to buy cheap staff. This phrase means that when buying cheap products we must be prepared to replace them more often due to bad quality. The same logic of course applies both on computers and laptops as well.

I have been using Macbook and Os X for 3 years and I have never experienced any problems as I did with other laptops based on windows os. I used to replace my laptops after a year of use, as they always become unstable and slow. Windows always had errors and I always ended up losing all saved data. With Macbook and Os X, I'm more confident and I experience the true quality of "how really technology should be" on daily basis.

Which OS(operating system) do you prefer?

So, you brought your precious and expensive Macbook home and you are trying to learn it. Probably pressing the buttons you used to press on Laptops made for Windows OS and expecting the same results. You probably are trying to find the right click you used to have on your mouse. You wonder "How can I copy paste on Mac?"

There are 2 ways how to do so.

  1. Using keyboards
  2. Using trackpad

In order to copy you need to highlight the text as you do on any other PC or Laptop and press two buttons CMD and C. The text will be remembered by OS X and you can then paste it wherever you want to, using two buttons CMD and V.

In order to be able to copy paste with trackpad and generally use it as a mouse with right and left click you need to moderate preferences of trackpad.

Press the apple button on the upper left side of the screen and choose system preferences. On the second line you will find the trackpad application. Press it and choose any options suitable for you. In order to use simple tap and not the full click, press the first option "one finger","tap to click".

Now, highlight the text you wish to copy and lightly tap the trackpad with two finger. It will open a small window with different commands. Copy and paste can be found in those commands.

I don't have a MAC, but my daughter does and it intimidates me. Thanks for calming my fears and teaching me how to perform at least one task.
