      Win XP Pro SP3

1- Yesterday I used method 2 restated the computer and the problem did not show up. Than at the end of my working day I put the computer on hibernating.

2- Today when I "woke" up the computer the "Generic Host Process For Win32 Services Encountered A Problem and needs to close." message appeared again with all side effects, like no sound, problems in sending emails (somehow the error corrupts Oulook set up), corrupted Skype screen etc.

3- So, I restarted the computer and fortunately the error message did not show up again. The sound is working but the volume icon didn't show up. I went to Control Panel and at Sounds and Audio Devices I turned Off and On the radio button that places the Volume icon in the task bar and the volume icon showed up again.

4- Would you recommend to run the fix that again? I am really shaky to restart the computer to avoid seeing again the ugly error message with all its side effects.

5- Would you recommend to run your fix again just make sure?

6- How to I know that the fix is still ON?

Sorry to say, but this solution did absolutely nothing to stop the problem for xp Pro sp3.

I could sure use some help if anybody knows a solution that definitely does work.

Found this thread- great, or so I thought.

After rebuilding the o/s with a restore disk, I got this error. I click Do Not Send' to M/S. But then I can't do anything on the laptop. Arg!

Any ideas on how to use this fix when the laptop just freezes now on each reboot? In fact the only way I can shut it down to reboot is a hard shutdown.

hi, wondered what my problem could be ? every so often we lose the internet we think its something to do with the ip address as when we do a diagnoses it says cant verify ip address, and then cant do a thing, after a few system restores back by 2 months this time we get back the internet, i know this will happen again wondered what could be the cause? kind regards, diane

This method will fix the annoying error message, but be aware, that if you are using your computer on a network, you will loose all your mapped & shared drives... This is what happen to me, since I have applied the fix on my work computer...

I've got to say your knowledge saved me a great deal today at work, am going to narrate my story quickly. We use interconnected computers of about 15 computers to 1 server monitored by a timer, unfortunately the server starts compaining of Generic problem which disabled internet activity on all computers except the server. I started doing unrealistic things like repair windows which didn't work, then i went online to solve the problem i saw some methods which didn't work, then i saw yours which worked perfectly. you are the best, Thanks a million

I saw in one of the comments, that someone said the error message was due to sound problems. I've got sound problems as of today. No sound at all. When i click on Volume Icon. The message is reading that No active mixer devices are available. What does that mean? How do i get my sound back? Thank's

s there something that should be done to browse through the LAN after running the fix.

Workgroup & shared drive PC's are not shown in the list nor are they accessible through their name or IP Address. Ping to the workgroup PC by name and IP Address replay is successful.

Tried the 2nd method but the message keeps coming up, also I now have another problem, when I start up the computer all I get is a blank screen without icons or taskbar! To get rid of this I have tried putting in explorer.exe again but nothing happens. I have to do a restore a few times before it goes back to normal. Then that awful message comes up again and back to square 1. Anyone have any ideas about what to do next! Thanks.

I tried method 2 above and then paretologic PC advisor with no change to speed or error messages. I then uninstalled little used software and drivers (including Minolta film scanner and Canon printer) and the error has gone and speed is restored. I suspect there are many causes for this error message and I was lucky that the simplest worked.
