How to Install LinuxMint in VirtualBox

One of the best way to test new operating system is through virtual machines. One of the advantage of this approach is that we can test the new operating system OS without committing to use it as the default OS. This method is called sandboxing. There are quite few virtual machines out in the market today. The virtual machine that we are going to use is the virtualbox. Installing virtualbox in windows OS host is quite straight forward. LinuxMint is an desktop operating system. It is one of the derivatives of ubuntu. Its kernel is based linux. Whats best about linuxmint is free and its is not prone to malwares and computer viruses. Below are the things we need to test the linuxmint OS in virtualbox environment.

  1. LinuxMint ISO. You can download the latest from its website or mirror pages that host linuxmint.
  2. Latest VirtualBox
  3. Host OS. In my case I'm using Windows 7 professional edition.
  4. Atleast 20 GB free hard disk space
  5. 4GB memory

Follow steps provided below to add linuxmint in virtualbox.
