Stop Windows Update Nag after Automatic Updates

Have you ever gotten annoyed by windows constant shutdown nag after installing windows updates? The one that re-appears every five minutes (I know I have).

Well if your answer is "Yes." then here's how to stop that happening with this neat little trick.

There are other ways of stopping this.  However, after the ones I have tried, nothing comes close to how easy this method is.

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click Run, if using Windows Vista, or 7 you may not need to do this, just use the text box at the bottom.
  3. Type the following sc stop wuauserv then click OK.

You should notice a small black Command Prompt window appear, then disappear.

Thats it! This shuts down the Automatic Shutdown Service temporarily until you computer is re-started again.
