About Google Quality Score

Targeting Google quality score; whether for the visibility in the search results page or for the Google AdWords campaigns; is a frustrating game similar to targeting the tiny red spot or bull's eye at the center of a dartboard.

Ideally; what makes quality score so frustrating is the dynamic nature of the internet browsing behaviors; and the consequent changes made to the search algorithms in order to meet the requirements of the internet users.

On the other hand; quality score (page quality measurements satisfaction) is an educated sole strategy behind the Google's PageRank SEO mystery; which SEOs will never understand, but only Larry Page and Sergey Brin; who did substantial amount of research and developed a system that ranks web-pages democratically: Without a higher quality score; your web-page's ranking in the Google's search engine results page (SERP) will be pathetic, leading to a low organic web-traffic and site's conversion rate.

Besides; Google AdWords quality score is not far from page quality measurements that are needed to rank well in the SERP organically: Before displaying relevant ads; Google will look at a number of design factors that determine a web-page quality score, including page's content and effective utilization of quality keywords that users will most likely type in the search box.

This means; in order to beat your competitors in Google AdWords campaign; other design elements must be included; and using the right keywords for your ad campaigns alone will not determine your AdWords quality score: It goes hand-in-hand with other design elements that constitute a pleasant organic PageRank.

As such; quality score has remained the major Google's ranking signal; since it's a long term white-hat-SEO technique that lasts for ages to serve the needs of online customers once it is effected according to Google's search engine optimization requirements.

According to Jerry Ledford in her incredible SEO book; Search Engine Optimization Bible available on Amazon, quality score is similar to customer service in the real world; greetings, attitude, helpfulness, and extreme knowledge that creates a pleasant customer experience.

In relation to a pleasant customer care; major search engines such as Google works extremely hard to ensure that they only serve relevant web-pages and ads in the search results; which will satisfy the needs of users when they type in related keywords or a phrase and hit the search button.

In order to serve quality and useful web-pages to users; Google uses a number of signals to ensure that only ads and relevant web-pages with quality information show up in the SERP. The Google search is designed to satisfy the needs of the internet users; and not the needs of search engine robots like the misguided black hat SEO world may present it.

Succinctly; quality score is all about creating web-pages for the visitor: Consequently; quality score is the major ranking factor Google uses to show relevant web-pages in the SERP; since it satisfies the major work of the search engine; which is to make happy and satisfied online customers.

Quality score depends on how internet users will engage with your web-pages; it is how more user-friendly a web-page is deemed by Google's PageRank algorithms. And according to Google; quality score is calculated by the degree of the user-experience of a given web-page.

So, how do you achieve Google quality score? The answer is- create web-pages for the internet users: Ideally; quality score in the eyes of Google is primarily the optimization and the fulfillment of a number of site's design elements; rather than other off-site SEO techniques that may be employed by a marketer.

4 Essential Elements for Achieving Google Quality Score

When it comes to Google quality score; there are no short-cuts or an easy way of achieving it. It is a determination of continuous hard work for as long as the search engines will exist.

SEO is living and kicking and will never end as long as the internet is still available: As such; every web-page must be kept alive with a quality score ranking signal in order to conform with the ever changing Google's search algorithms.

As stated earlier; quality score comprises of a number of on-site quality measurements that must be accomplished for a higher quality score that will guarantee a pleasant Google PageRank and consequently a higher site's conversion rate.

Also important to note; before optimizing your AdWords campaigns, ensure that you first meet the Google's organic quality score requirements as most of these design elements will affect your AdWords quality score. Here are 4 essential elements that Google weighs in order to determine a web-page's quality score before showing the results page:

URL Structures

1. Domain Names and URL Structures

Lots of designers don't give much dedication to naming their sites: Have you ever wondered why someone would buy a domain name at over $300 million? What is so important about domain and site names that someone will be willing to part with that kind of money? This shows how important it is to formulate a site name with SEO in mind just like other search engine optimization elements.

A very typical example; type a given keyword, may be 'expert dog trainer' in Google's search engine and hit the search button: The top 3 or 5 results; or even more will have a collection dog and/or training in their URLs. Moreover; the site's with the name that includes these keywords will show up in the SERP.

And; the higher a web-page ranks in the search results, the higher the traffic and site's conversion rate. As such; it is always a good SEO practice to make a site's name and URLs more descriptive by using the primary niche keywords in the site's name and in the URLs in order to score the keywords quality earlier before the main web-page's content: Users will have a good reason to continue and click-through when they see relevant keywords in the URLs and site names. You can review 12 rules for choosing the right domain name for a higher Google PageRank.

Also important to consider is the URL structure. Avoid very long and dynamic URL structures. Dynamic URLs change and what exists today in the search results may not show up the following day. Search engine crawlers can't crawl site's with dynamic URLs effectively since they change; and a static URL structure may be the best option for your site if you want to rank well in the SERP. This also explains why sites using dynamic URLs such as Amazon.com rarely turns up in the search rankings of Google.

2. Page Content

Since page content is among the elements of a user-friendly site designed to satisfy the visitor's needs; you need to spend quality time to create a unique content for your web-pages. Google web-crawlers only show relevant web-pages with sufficient content in the search results.

As such; you need an effective content creation strategy that will ensure an impressive quality score in relation to the page's content. A great content begins with the right keyword and phrases; and correct use of the keywords in the titles and in the main body of the web-page.

On the other hand; a great content should focus on a limited number of keywords that constitute the right keyword density in the eyes of Google; preferably three major keywords in order to increase the effectiveness of your keywords. Too many keywords on the same web-page counts as keyword stuffing and may force web-crawlers to rank low or fail to index your web-pages.

Also essential on a web-page are graphics or images: Image searches are gaining popularity; especially for Google image search engine that tends to show images in the SERP, leading to traffic generation that originates from the searches made on images.

As such; Google web-crawlers love web-pages that are media rich. Include tags such as ALT tags and the img tags for the search robots consumption; so that they can know what the rest of the web-page contains from the image descriptions.

3. Link Structure

A user-friendly website needs to have an effective internal link strategy that will ensure an effective user navigation from one web-page to another within the same website. On the other hand; an efficient external link to the related external web-pages are necessary in order to provide a more detailed and valuable information from the outside sources for your site's users

Moreover; a proper link strategy helps in establishing information hierarchy for a given site. Information hierarchy is also important as the search engine robots need a well-designed information rendering pattern from one web-page to another to ensure user satisfaction.

Finally; internal linking on a website helps in spreading the link juice around the site; which is one of the essential ranking signals major search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing use to calculate the relevancy of web-pages and rank them before serving searches results for the internet users.

4. Page Speed

Google takes page speed ranking signal very seriously before showing the search results: This is because web-pages which take too long to load are not user-friendly; and even if the information on the page is relevant; internet users will click-away as soon as they realize that a web-page is not loading faster.

In order to achieve a higher quality score to beat your competitors in the Google's SERP; you need to utilize page speed tools such as the Google's page speeds tools to improve your site's speed for a higher page rank.

Conclusion

Honestly; Google PageRank is still a mystery and no one will ever understand the core of algorithmic updates made by Google to calculate a web-page quality score and rank web-pages in terms of importance to the users. However; in the eyes of Google, quality score is measured by how user-friendly and satisfactory a web-page is. Through an elaborate experience and extensive SEO experiments, SEO moguls have developed and tested educated quality score strategies for a user-friendly site to work with for an impressive page-rank in the SERP of the major search engines such as Google. This is good, basic stuff. I don't do keyword research or any of that stuff when I want to write an article, but I definitely know a lot of this stuff from the early days of the web (for me, late 90s) and writing HTML. Anyway, good stuff.
