How to add or change current location in facebook?

Updated on June 19, 2013

My new friend at HubPages Rajan Jolly is wondering why in his FaceBook his active session is showing the location as Bangalore, Karnataka. In fact Rajan Jolly ji is from Jalandhar, Punjab which is over 2500 miles away from Bangalore.

I have answered his question in HubPages Question and Answer section itself. But still I decided to write a hubpage on this subject that Rajan Jolly ji can easily understand and at the same time it helps others like him who are wonder how to change location in the FaceBook.

Hope the hub helps you out on adding or removing your location at the FaceBook.

You have to change the location while updating your status.

You can add specific location – like shopping mall or a restaurant or cinema hall - while updating your status. To do that just follow these instructions:

Login to your FaceBook account.

Update Status to change location...
Update Status to change location...

Then click on Update Status (see ‘1’ in the illustration above)

Write what is on your mind or update any information on your status.

Then click on icon as indicated in 2 in the illustration below, which is location icon.

type here the specific location or general location as city...
type here the specific location or general location as city...

Then you will see “Where are you?” box where you will type your location – see illustration 3.

Type your exact location in that location box - for example type “100 Feet Road, Indiranagar”, then the facebook will give automatic suggestion as in illustration 4. From the suggestion given, you can select the choice you want.

Then you can POST “Update Status”.

It is recommended that you should choose location of a city rather than specific location as given in illustration 4. If you choose a city, for example if you type Bangalore, the it will capture this location.

Also note that this location will appear in all your future posts until if you want to change by type new location.

Also you can add people you are with by clicking on the icon which to the left of ‘location’ icon.

Please post your comments and add your suggestion as well.

You can not only add location or change location in Facebook, you can also remove location as well.

      The steps are almost same.

Nice to note that it helped your to get your location right on the facebook.

I doubt your facebook account might have been compromised in any way. But be watchfull, if the location is getting changed again! Any you can change the password now... if you doubt that it might have been hacked!
