Installing andriod games on a Kindle

The Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablet is one hot device that allows you to do a lot of things besides just reading books or browsing the web - You can also install play lots of games.

One of the hottest games of the moment is Angry birds and Kindle Fire HD does support it as an Android device.

Things you will need:

  • Wireless internet connection
  • Kindle Fire HD
  • Games website

Installing Games on the Kindle Fire HD

Being an Android device, the kindle fire hd accepts game that come in the .apk format and this is available on the Amazon network of sites. Some third party sites also offer such Android games but Amazon doesn't recommend it for security reasons and that's why your Android device by default only accepts the installation of games from Amazon approved sites.

Installing games from Amazon website

To install games from Amazon's approve games portal, just do the following

  1. Open your Kindle and touch the games link
  2. Select Store
  3. Search for Angry birds of any other game you want
  4. Select the download button
  5. Accept the download and installation
  6. After installation, you can start playing it by going to games

Installing Angry bird from third party sites

Ordinarily, you can't just install games from outside Amazon's network of trusted sites and so you would need to change the default settings that allows you to do that.

Enabling installation from third party:

  1. Pull down the settings tab from the top
  2. Select more
  3. Select device
  4. Switch Allow installation of applications (From unknown sources) On
  5. Now you can install Android apps from other websites

Installing angry birds from Opera Apps

  • Go to your web browser
  • Go to
  • Search for angry birds
  • Do the download and installation
  • After installation, you can always go to apps > Angry birds and play.
