How to run Dell Laptop Diagnostics

If your Dell Laptop is exhibiting strange behavior.
For Example any of the following
- Random Lockups
- Slow Performance
- Unexpected Shutdowns
You may have a failing memory stick, or harddrive. The good news is you don't have to automatically take it in for repair. You can do a little diagnostic yourself prior to paying for service.
Step 1. Restart your computer.
Step 2. When you see the DELL Splash Screen, Press the F12 Button. This will cause the boot process to stop with a black screen and some white text. Select the text using the arrow keys on your keyboard that says "Utility Partition" or "Diagnostic Tools"
Step 3. Follow the prompts as they are given, the laptop will start with a basic test of your ram harddrive, cpu, and display. Afterwards if no problems are found, it will ask if you want to perform more extensive tests. If there is a problem it will flash a warning on the screen along with an error code.
Step 4. Determine if your laptop is under warranty. If it isn't take it to your nearest computer repair shop and have them assist you with the repair.
