Sometimes you may need to protect your file(s) or folder(s) of your computer. What to do? The easiest way is to compress that file(s) or folder(s) using WinRar and give a password. Giving this password, ensures the restriction to access those file(s) or folder(s) form unauthorized people. In this page, we will learn you how to set password in WinRar file. Remember, you can set this password on any type of file(s) or folder(s) and to open those you must have to enter that password.

Steps to set password for .rar file:

Follow the following steps to set password for .rar file(s)/ WinRar file(s) or .rar folder(s)/ WinRar folder(s):

Step 1: Af first, select the File/Files or Folder/Folders that you want to make Rar and right click on the the File/Files or Folder/Folders and choose Add to archieve... from the menu. In this tutorial, we use the folder named as how to set password and so we select that folder and right-click on it and choose Add to archive....

Step 2: After completing the above step, a new window (Archieve name and parameters window) will be appeared. From that window, click on Advanced tab and then select Set password... button and the password window will be appeared.

Step 3: Now, enter the password that you want to give. For this tutorial, we enter the password fixTool and hit OK button.

Step 4: After completing the above steps, again click on OK button

Following the above steps you can easily create a password protected WinRar file(s) or folder(s). Remember, when you want to open that folder or file, you must enter the password and so dont forget the password of the file.
