How to use spotify in countries where it's not available
Spotify’s integration in facebook is great. It enables you to stream music and share it with your friends. It even lets you listen songs with the people in your friendlist in realtime. Now spotify isn't yet available in many countries (like mine) and people are feeling that they have been left behind. Realising that only a handful of people in my friendlist are using spotify and many of my friends asking me about how I managed to get it to work I felt I should help them out. I searched hubpages before writing this tutorial and found, surprisingly, that there were no hubs related to this topic. So here it is.
First of all get TunnelBear. It is a great and easy to use VPN app. You can download it from the tunnelbear website. It is available for windows and mac and even for android and iPhones!
After the installation you will be asked to make a new account.
Enter your details and a valid email id that you can access as you will receive a confirmation link there.
You can select the paid version if you do stuff that requires you to change your VPN a lot. But for spotify’s installation the free version will be enough.
After you’ve successfully confirmed your email account, turn on tunnelbear and choose the US option from the right dial.
Next go to spotify’s website and download the app without being bothered by the previous “not available in your country” error. Download and install it on your computer.
After it’s installation you can login using your facebook details.
Turn off tunnelbear while spotify is running.
Lo and behold, you’re ready to use spotify and browse through the infinite amount of music it has to offer. The free version of tunnelbear offers only 500mb of data per month, but unknown reasons spotify does not check for geographic location once it has been installed. This means that now you can use spotify without tunnelbear!
